right. i brought it inside and took the metal bars off it typed in zexel and this came up http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=zexel&btnG=Google+Search but how can it still start and run when i took it out? if its fuel ecu?

weird.so you have removed your ecu, and you can go for a 10/10 min drive, trouble free, and everything works??

the swb is rotton being broken for parts and no mot:doh but it runs and revs fine

me thinks cant run without that so there must be another in there somewhere, maybe an up date or something, the pump cannot know when to inject without the info on crank position, Rick

I think you will find it is there only for EGR control... so no surprise its runs without it!

if it is a zexel pump it should have an Hitachi MAF, dont scrap the maf someone on this site will have it for a spare, I have a spare one myself but they are rare and very expensive new.

I'm taking everything off that's good to keep or sell to it's just a rotten shell. Everything from the engine and gearbox to the fuses. Where is the maf?

if yours is a TD, it wont have a MAF I dont think////but its attached to the air inlet pipe after the air box...cant miss it..

As Clivvy says, no maf on the 2.7 TD, ie non intercooler version.:thumb2
