What is this plug?

Found this floating around the engine bay and it doesn't appear to have fell out of anything and everything is working

Ignore the red and black wires at the bottom they are for my spotlights

no idea but I have several empty plugs/sockets so can only assume some motors for instance have electric fans as well as the viscous depends where the motor was sold etc, Rick

Good call, never seen that bulb light up on the dash but makes sense given the location its in in relation to the header tank

This looks like an OEM plug to me as it is coming straight out of the loom with all the factory insulation on it etc
 
I suggest checking for voltage with ign switch in different places, this may narrow it down a bit.
One probe to earth other to a pin at a time

My Terrano r3mR had similar plugs around the front wiring loom.

Unlike many modern cars that have individual wiring looms built to each car specification older cars had one loom for every variant so spare plugs abound.

With number crunchers and CAD dominating car development and design cost savings on unused wiring etc has made more profit for the likes of Mercedes.

Unless you have lost a function I would not worry.
