What is the ring gear type ring on the back of the hub ??

Hi guys when changing my split cv boot and discs I noticed a ring gear type ring on the back of the hub just wondered what it is ??

Yep you guessed it it's cracked

Does it have square 'teeth' ? Sounds like a reluctor ring used for ABS systems.

Yep that's the one will mt abs still work with it cracked ??

The ABS sensor sits near the ring and detects the square notches passing by. If the ring has a crack in it but is still attached then you should be fine unless the ring falls off !

If the ABS computer detects a missing tooth then it will switch on the ABS dashboard light and disable the ABS. So if the light comes on when you switch the ignition on and then goes out once you start and doesn't come back on while your driving then it's working.
