i went out to it this morning to take those pics , while i was taking those pics , all hell broke loose with buzzers etc going off really loud ,i checked all the doors , made sure lights were off etc , then i noticed if i applied the handbrake when the key was in the ignition the noise stopped :doh
Is it the detent button for moving from neutral to reverse or is this on the top of your gear lever ?
You should not be able to change direction from Reverse to Drive by simply moving the gearshift lever. My gearshift (Terrano R3mR) has a detent button that you have to select to enable this. In addidtion the footbrake has to be depressed.
On my Terrano you cannot remove the ignition key unless the car is in Park. It might allow you to remove the key when in Neatral its worth trying this without the engine running and if it does mystery solved.
I assume you have no handbook I managed to get one online and though it cost me £21 it cover my model and there was a lot of information in it. Beware hwever as some of the cheaper versions are useless.
hm... thats possiblly what it is then , in mine i cant remove the key unless its in park , and then ive got to press this little button underneath the ignition too , thanks mate , thats probably what it is :thumb2
Stick with logic until you know exactly what its for, as you say it aint red for nowt.
Its not for selecting reverse, thats what the button on the side of the gearstick is for.
ok , ok i just had to press it !!! , if i start the engine with the lever in park , i have to depress the footbrake to move the selector , but if i press the little red button , i can move the selector without depressing the footbrake .
