Well as you probably know, mavericks and terrano's are different. The interiors are diferent, badges and front bumper, but what style do you prefer??? I prefer the maverick front bumper. That's why if you have seen my other post (no wing left) I got a maverick bumper. Plus, my bumper is cracked lol:doh

Well I chose the Maverick 15+ years ago for 2 reasons.

1 It had a Ford badge and we were happy with Ford, I knew it was Nissan.
2 Interior trim, I am a bit of a traditionalist, and like colours that match/complement each other. My mav is grey silver paint with a grey plastic and grey velour interior. Some of the later Terranos use beige black etc, and I didn't like the clashing colours. Some of the Terrano trim was checked with conflicting colours. In my opinion. Better for the younger driver I guess.:nenau

We also test drove a Disco, and we were flagged down by a Disco owner, he said this was his third one, thinking he must be happy with the brand, he said 3 this year from new. Gear box failure at the time was a big problem. LR changed them at their cost....

We looked at the Frontera, looked ok inside etc but wanted the higher towing capacity of the Mav.

Wish list for the current Mav, ABS, aircon, intercooler for extra HP.
Cd player, but I have bought a transmitter from China, arrived today, not tested yet, takes SD card, USB and 3.5mm input for MP3 etc.... with remote control.
I hope it works and not a waste of £2.50.:lol If it works I will advise..

rustic, i had one of those radio things, not bad laster few months.

on the mk2 twin headlight model, always intrigued why on the mav
the fogs are higher up than the terrano2.

on the t2 the centres of the heads and fogs are in line, on the mav
pretty much in top half to degree, could mount another small spot
beneath. ok the centre design of the grill differs too, but never
susses the differing fogs positions.

good point about interior trims.

think mavs can be bargains cos folks dont search 'em out whilst
searching for terranos.

love my nissans, but had several ford cars, havent we all, perhaps
a mav would be a good mix after all when i can afford a second
motor.

Back in 2006 we had a 1998 vauxhall vectra but we needed a bigger vehicle, so we looked at 4x4s. We were told about a ford maverick glx lwb in dark red in leeds. So we went and had a look. I had no idea what a ford maverick was:nenau but when we got there I thought it was one of the best 4x4 I've ever seen lol. So we got it...I was very happy:D. Had new exhaust fitted and it was a very clean interior. But in 2008, the gearbox blew up because we were being paid for towing heavy trailers. It got jammed in 4th so it had to go:(:(:(. I was telling dad to put a new gearbox in but we didn't hav the money at the time. So I was despite to get another one. So I was saving my money to get a maverick or terrano. So I got my £150 terrano lx as a project for when I start driving. I'll try and find a pic of the old glx and get it up on my profile. If I new at the time I was going to get a maverick/terrano I would have got bits from it. Plus the maverick was rotten

I would have to say i am biased towards nissan, my first car was a nissan and never gave me any problems for years until the sils needed welding by which time we needed a bigger car anyway, after that we went for the nissan serena, was great for repairs just like a lego set, somthing broke you pulled it off and put a new one on, then a few years ago when we were really skint and has to get new we went `RENAULT` and got a 1990 espace for £300, bargain, so i thought, till i had to get new clutch, new gear box, new brake drums, new brake discs. could have got a newer model for the price i ended up paying on that thing over a 3 month period, then we got the t2, and i can honestly say, i love it, my first 4x4 so have nothing to compare it to really, but i love it, should have never strayed from nissan lol

We've had quite a strange car history. In 2001 we had a 1996 proton compact then in 2003 my mum bought a 2003 Honda jazz (new) very bad car for long jornay very loud road noise from having thin doors and hard seats so it hurts your arse!!:nenau then my dad got a 1997 Honda accord then a 1995 vauxhall vectra then a 1994 ford maverick (the one I was going on about) then a mk1 Renault cleo (cylinder head blew) then a 1992 Audi 80 quattro then we were offered a 1992 mk2 Toyota mr2 in black for £350 because the owner was moving to Germany (good bargain) it's a japanese import, imported 2001 then we got a Volvo 850 t5 engine blew. We buy old cars and run them because my dad knows a bit avoid cars... Well... Says he dose:lol We've still got the mr2, jazz , my terrano and just got a 1998 ford mondeo..... Ohh yea did I mention the 1997 rover metro and 1999 vauxhall tigra that we use for motorsport lol sorry for huge post

Another difference is the stereo, Ford insisted on the Ford radio, and they put an amplifier under the driver' seat.
System sounds good, no distortion.
At least they did it on the Mk I Maverick.
It makes it very difficult to fit a modern DIN radio/CD. radio etc as the re-wire is quite extensive.

Automatic radio aerial is a different fitment.

The Owner's manual is clearly different, and is wrong in that it doesn't recommend LSD oil in the rear diff. They use a Ford nearest equivalent spec, which is standard gear oil..... Big mistake.
Ford garages can't service them correctly. Well the 4 different ones I used didn't.:nenau
After the warrenty ran out I took it to a Nissan dealer, but I have serviced it myself for the last 10 years...

Chassis numbers are different in that Nissan and Ford don't recognise each others.:doh
