This afternoon I called in to my local tyre place and spoke to a chap who was very helpful and helped alot really considering. Firstly I went bowling in saying "5 x General Grabber AT2s size 31x10.5x15 inch please" That seems a bit big for your mota mate are you sure thats the right size.... Well Ive been on the forum and thats what the chaps on there are saying I need and they will fit easily says I ...

Well when he came out with a tyre of that size it was easy to see that there was no way this size tyre would fit without rubbing, Honest before anyone says are you sure the answers Yes,, The guy then got a tape out and said on flat ground you mota measures 15.0 inches upto the sill top immediately after the front wheel and 17.5 inches immediately infront of the rear wheel again up to the sill top. you need to rearrange something if you want to fit larger tyres. My question to you guys is "what do I do now and again what size is the biggest I can fit without rubbing the inner wheelarch etc, You will see that I asked this question previously about kumhos kl71s. Come on guys help me out as this is getting to the ridiculous stage. Sorry for the longwinded email but you needed to be there to see it. I felt about 5 and at that moment the wheel had definately fell off my wagon lol

31 x 10.5 x 15 will fit a standard truck.

simples .... loads have done it

Thanks Extreme4x4 and Briggie for a minute I thought I was going mad but if you were to see the tyre placed up against my standard alloy you would of seen about 1 inch either side of the tyre, my gusee id that they height is wrong on both the front and back of the vehicle as to add insult to injury the guy then said you do know that youve got 235/70 instead of 235/75 on at the moment mate, I just dont know what to do next as it seems light years away from being right at the moment, I just couldnt believe it and am seeking advice as to how to put the height right first to the standar height and then maybe wind the torsion bar up a inch at the front and put new rear springs say plus 1inch as well so that the tyre has plenty of space at the sides. Its a nightmare and nothings simple, Bloody government isnt having as much grief as me at the moment and thats the biggest farce on record lol

Extreme, forgive my stupidity but how do I check for torsion bar sag and is it repairable easily or do I need to go and see the bank manager for a loan ie can I do it myself firstly, what do you think about the idea of lifting it at the front a inch and add new springs plus1 on the rear, after its back up to standard height this is the pits mate I tell you

park it up on flat ground, measure from the ground up to the cill, or the wheel arch ( i prefer the wheel arch) you should have about 1/2 inch lover on the front than rear.

to adjust look in the downloads torsion bar adjusting . its simple and easy diy job that will take 30-45 mins

then the tyres will fit .

another option might be 31 x 9.5 x 15
this will possibly be better on standard rims and still give the height.

mine had 35 x 12.5 x 16 with lots of work . .. but im looking again at other options less offset and narrower tyres , and cut more off the body. i can lower it down a little then to save the steering parts...

If you follow the torsion bars back from the front wishbones there are 2 adjusters on the X member behind the gearbox.
19mm socket on the bolt and 19mm ring spanner on the lock nuts.Clockwise to lift anti clockwise to lower,4 complete turns of the bolt raises the vehicle approx 20mm at the front.

no need mate, i could handle another.. lifes to hard as it is with out making things worse!

Extreme, thanks for the info I have 2.5 inches of difference at the moment from the rear of the front wheel to the front of the rear wheel whats that on a lwb version 6/7 foot at the most id say, now that weve/youve got that out of the way, What causes torsion bar sag? and zippy or briggie can you help with what to do manuals wise or thread links etc,,,, oh and briggie fancy saying keep to the standard size you didnt think that when you asked youre welsh rig doctor to upgrade you stalker did you.... lol hahaha got you there pete. :clap:clap :clap :clap:clap
