Mine still runs just ever so slightly uneven at idle...

is this anything to do with idle? see the little screw, whats it for??

Unfortunately I don't have an idea how idle is adjusted but would'nt mind finding out. Mine idles high, about 1000 rpm, but if I leave out clutch a bit with foot on the brake I can bring it down to 600 rpm and it will stay there happily.

anyone?? I really want to adjust the idle, mine feels too low, its hard to judge what its actually running at, but i'd say 5/600? i want to nip it up to 750 where it should be, because if i lightly press the pedal to bring it up to approx 750, its much smoother...

anyone?? i have searched and searched the forum, and there is not ONE clear example of how to adjust the idle!! my engine isnt fly by wire, if that helps, but i cant even find a throttle linkage in the engine bay, all i can see is the thurbo waste gate jobby near the oil dip stick...

there is loads of us with these engines, somebody must know! :nenau

i seems to me that if my idle is set too low, i'm going to get the uneven idling that i am experiencing. its only slight but its there, and its annoying!

Is it possible that idle is controlled by the ECU, and may not be adjustable in the traditional sense?

Alan

On the TDI, the idle speed is controlled by the ECU, although some people have managed to adjust the 'at rest' pedal position on the potentiometer at the pedal, thereby altering the tickover speed.

Oh, that's awkward! But I suppose then my idle issues aren't actually a problem with idle control, more something else like filter perhaps, mini filter? Maybe even egr? All it does , is bounce the rev counter slightly, but it's not right, it should be rock solid.
