As above, has anyone here ever used one and if so which one?

I'm going to need one soon as soon as my clutch arrives

I can imagine Rick will advise. Something like a pencil and a scotch bottle top. He must have plenty of them:lol

most quality clutches i buy from local motor factor come with a plastic alignment tool in the kit

Not far off, I use a half inch drive extension just fits snug in the flywheel bush I then set by eye the gap around the centre plate but if you want to be posh wrap insulating tape around the point at which the centre plate is until it is a snug fit, if you find the shaft is sloppy then change the spigot bush, if you do not then clutch judder on take up is likely, oh and how do you get the bush out, easy pump it full of grease and drive in same extension bar, bush will pop out, Rick

I want something a little more tailored to the job than a drive extension with some tape round it :lol I'm trying to progress my toolset

Not logical for something you will probably only use once, Rick

Who said I won't need to do it again at some point, not to mention friends and family (as soon as I find my Grandad one) that may need it doing.

There's always the option for other members too should they be hard up on cash and need their clutch doing, I like to help others and I'm sure it will be worth of a space in my tool chest.

Exactly what rick said extension with tape I've used that same tool for every clutch job I've done. The kits come with different adapters but sods law won't have right one

I have got a sealey alignment set somewhere in the depths of the shed which has the right size.
Can't for the life of me remember where I got it from though???
Most likely machine mart as it was just down the road from where I used to work.

Just brought a Draper one from the local car spares place and their mechanic out back came through and said it should be fine for "that jeep he drives" :nono

Yeah right, there are as many spigot bush sizes and first motion shaft bores as I have had hot dinners, so good luck, my method is cheap but of course you have to have as a start a round shaft that fits the spigot, I have such a range here that that is not a problem, twist drills come to mind, Rick
