Crikey ! I've a 50 year driving history - can't remember all of 'em ..... anyroadup currently its a '96 Mav 2.7TD and a '92 MR2 GT Limited ... erm and a chinese scooter and a Honda VF500 (1986) .... learnt on a Vauxhall Cresta and a BSA Bantam then several Mini's starting with a van several Imps, several Beetles then mundane things like Cortina's following with Range Rover, Merc and a couple of BMW's (M5 last - the shark nose one), Volvo, Mazda, Sierra, Fiat - I'm running out of memory ...... Bikes - Bantam, Norton Dominator, Honda ?, Yamaha XS750, Fantic, Yamaha XV, a Suzuki I've forgotten what, another Yam and then the Interceptor (and the scoot) .... somewhere along the line I had a Vitesse and a Cortina with a 3 litre engine, again I've forgot exactly whut it was called ... but it's enuff !

Tend to think there may be a few of us similar ages on here looking at the cars and guessing we had them post shiny new and pre scrappy

I've had loads of cars , lost track. Bit of a money spending boy racer when it wasnt trendy to be all those years ago.

I would say the best car I had from new was a Mk I 1984 Astra GTE which I did a bit of work on and managed to do 106000 miles in 4 years :augie

The best s/h was the biggest suprise of the lot a Seat Toledo bought in a hurry after my sierra got written off. Turned out it was effectively the 16v golf set up in a different skin, a brill car and managed 130000 miles with no significant problems (the missus has one of those slinky little new Ibizas and thats great too).

The best build up I did was a 1600gl cavalier which started out std but blew up and was gradually replaced with bits from a 200Gl smash up I bought. The crap carb was replaced with a webber, the cam (which always wore out on those) had a piper hi lift and solid lifters shoved in and everything else played with and it ran on the 1600 diff ate capris, mantas et al for breakfast until you hit 80 ish and it ran out of steam, what a hoot though

Currently drive loads of different cars via work but I'm still 100% impressed with my terrano :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2
