What camping equipment

Get a cheap stainless steel wood gas stove on eBay from China for less than £12 and a ghillie kettle which is somewhat more expensive but we'll worth it. Both use a fraction of the fuel a camp fire would and which can be carried inside each.

I made a wood gas burner once, I might still have it, I'll look into the kettle, cheers :thumb2

Firepit is just out of an old washing machine drum with legs bolted to it and a couple slots in the rim with the dremel so that a grill sits in the top. Whack some coals in with a little wood for bbq mode with the grill then take off the grill and pile in more wood for a roaring firepit :thumb2

We just didn't need the flames going 3ft above the rim like we did everytime you were stoking it

As for tent etc, I've used a few double skinned pop-up tents in the past and they were fine.

As Banshee knows though, after watching too many 4wd Action vids I've recently been trying out a wee one man Aussie style swag...

Got my Aussie mate to bring me over one of these though for the next trip

That is one big slipper 1m high and queen sized mattress, it is big.
Interesting you said double skin pop up tents, I've only seen the cheapo single skinned ones that condensate really bad, I hate those things! I always wonder how the single skin canvas stuff is for condensation. It's something I have an issue with, me being a fat git

Didn't really suffer much at all tbh.
Got a bit in the very front porch area but that soon dries up once you open the door.
Very quick to pitch and take down as the poles are fixed to the outer fly sheet.
Had some serious heavy rain and wind last time I used it and stayed dry as a bone inside :thumb2

I think I have a 3 man, it's more like a 2 man. Great tent, no condensation and sturdy. Most times I don't bother with the guy ropes. Takes me about 2 mins to take down. I've had it years and it's still going strong.

Only issue it's a bit low, But most basic tents are. I've not read the whole thread so not sure what type of camping you plan. But for greenlaning type stuff where you just use it to sleep it's perfect.

My last pop up was the non-blackout version of that one in the second link. Porch area was always really handy :thumb2

My ground sheet just wore out through use (went to patch a hole and then noticed there were lots of thin patches...). I did shift pitches a few times by just unpegging and dragging with my bed still in it which probably didn't help :augie

Elty, Fez, I've never seen any off those tents before, not even heard of slumit, I like the way they work.
I have a crappy popup tent but a single skin one, I didn't think there were double skinned ones, thanks guys :bow:thumb2

Its so easy to do though with that tent, Don't like your spot. remove the 4 pegs and move it. I've even slept in it a few times without pegs. :lol
