In the photo, on the left hand side you will see two silver pipes coming down, they are connected to each other by a rubber hose?

i originally thought it was maybe an intercooler, but thats on the top!

is it for the Air conditioning?

Looks like it has been like that for a while, long before the accident anyway going by the dirt on the hose & clips

Thanks

they look like power steering pump pipes . that some one has cut a bit out . may be they had a split the pipe from when they hit the bollard . so they done that fix to get the steering back

Thanks Dave!

I think its had previous damage a fair few years ago, looking at previous repairs, so every chance this was done then!

Would this originally have went to a smaller radiator then?

no they go right the way across the back of the rad .about a extra 2 foot. I think its to keep the power steering fluid cool . I got one here I will take a pic of

this is apic of mine I got to fit . and from the bend on your it goes 18" inches to the next bend on mine

Thanks for posting the photo, explains it much better.

once i get it on the road in a few weeks i will see how it goes, and maybe look to replace them if required

Thanks
John

Yip they are the power steering oil cooler pipes & they often develop pin holes under the mountings (mine are just starting:doh) some garages or people just cut the pipes right the way back which TBH I don't like. When they went on my last Terrano I cut the pipes where they were leaking & sleeved over the cut with 2" of 9mm ID pipes which stopped any leaks:D

they crack underneath the mounting brackets where they are bolted to the x member.
had to repair mine recently.
looks like they have just cut out the bad bit of ally pipe and joined back together.
