Well after a really horrible time with a very poorly doggy who is now no longer with us I’m going to try to find the enthusiasm to do some more work on the project truck.

Jobs to do

Complete welding to os rear wheel arch and boot floor area. Most of the repair panels are cut and ready now.

Rear anti roll bar link

Replace fuel filter

Complete exhaust system

Paint and waxoyl the repaired areas.

If I can whittle down the list so that there is just the exhaust to replace then I’ll probably just ask the MOT garage to fit this. If I’m lucky this will all be completed ready for MOT to be booked for next week. All this is dependent on enthusiasm coming back of course.

Ah Jim I'm sorry to hear about the job matey, I've never owned one mate so can't say I know how you're feeling but friends have told me it's as bad as losing a family member so, my condolences chap. Apologies if it's too soon to ask or the question is insensitive but are you considering getting another dog?

Tomorrow, I'll be loading all my gear into the back of the truck and spending the day with my brother helping him swap the clutch on his Jimny, hopefully it shouldn't be too eventful. I'll be sure to take plenty of pics.

Sunday I'm out with the girlfriend picking a sofa and a bed for the new house that we move into on the 26th and the new job is stressful as hell. I'm being overloaded with work and I'm drowning

Anyways, stuff work, it's the weekend :splif

Hi Banshee, yes they do become part of the family. Hurts like hell and slightest thing seems to make my eyes leak like a land rover door seal. We have another dog too which helps. I’m tempted to get another dog but for the moment we are waiting.

Hope the zuki clutch goes ok mate but with your experience and skills the zuki won’t win lol.

You bet it wont mate, I'll beat that 1.3 litre bitch into submission, the gearbox in this looks tiny :lol

Working working working

I'll need to see about putting some more pics on my build thread though...

How long you been doing your new job now Zac? Hope you are still enjoying it.

Sorry to hear about the doggy, they really are like the children, just better behaved lol. I've got a rough collie

Jim, sorry about the loss of your dog, it really hurts, I still miss my old collie and its got to be 12 years+

Zac mate, thrash that suzi......:thumb2

Well this weekend I am on call again so working, it is only 1 week in around 5 but it comes round very quick and for some reason normally clashes with everything that I have going on. It's like appointments, kids parties, friends, family visiting are all drawn to that one week.

So sorry to hear about your dog Jim, I read your post with a tear, truly one of the toughest things I have ever had to do. I have found the right decisions are often the hardest one's to make.
You have my sympathies.

Take care.

George Circa 1994-2012 RIP

George Adult by Ted Bagshaw, on Flickr

This is George circa 2010 still sadly missed, we had to do the right thing for him when his hips finally gave out.

He was a cross between a Belgian Shepherd & a Red Border Collie cost the princely sum of £30 as he was a breeders "Accident". I had a brief VHS video clip of him swimming in a pond (lost in the fire) when he was a youngster he was one brilliant dog!

Cheers for the kind words about the dog, she’ll be missed greatly for sure.

Anyhoo the project truck is back on track. The welding is completely finished! Will nip out a bit later and paint the boot floor area where it’s been repaired.

So tomorrow it’ll be

Fit osr anti rollbar link
Waxoyl the newly repaired areas underneath
Start fitting the interior back
Repalce fuel filter

Monday book it in for exhaust fitting and mot, easier to pay someone to do the exhaust at this time of year I’m afraid.

Sorry for your loss Jim. Sad times.
Glad you've gained interest back in the truck. Good times :thumb2

Sorry to hear about your dog Jim:(
I was devastated when we lost ours.
Good to hear your getting your mojo back with the project truck:thumb2
So far this weekend I have cleaned out both of my aquariums ready for re stocking with some new fish.
Today's plans have changed though as my exhaust decided to let go while I was on my way home last night.
Was too cold and dark to have a proper look last night but it sounds like the front flexi section.
Just working myself up to getting it on the ramps to have a look.

The flexi is the only part of my milner exhaust that isn’t leaking, trouble is it doesn’t line up with the centre box that I bought so ended up buying the rest of the system from A&M Exhausts. We’ve been doing the truck for so long now I’ve had enough and letting the MOT garage replace it for me.

I keep toying with the idea of another aquarium, used to keep fresh water tropicals for years but kids came along and interest dropping so sold all my kit.

Post some photos when you get them up and running.

I got a coat of black stone chip on the interior repairs last night so should be able to clean it up and fit the carpets back today.

This is my 100 litre bow fronted corner tank.
Have already got a few mixed rainbows and a bristle nosed plec in there.
I was going to add a few more rainbows then it will be at capacity.

This is the 500 litre one.
This is the one that needs the work.
Running on a temporary filter at the moment and needs a new hood.
Has one lonely tin foil barb which I have had for years.
Need to buy a new sump filter and fabricate a new hood as it's a custom size one.

Nice tanks mate. I must be old because I remember tanks quantified in inches:doh
Definitely wetted my appetite for a tank or is that the wrong thing to say:lol

Kept fresh water tropical fish for years and can't imagine what our house would look like without them.

Well productive if not tiring weekend.

Have not had chance to change fuel filter or waxoyl the repairs from under the car unfortunately. So thought I’d stick fuel filter in the truck with the exhaust so that the MOT garage can replace when it goes in for MOT. Will call the garage tomorrow to book it in.

Finished today by giving it a wash to get rid of the dust. All the interior and seats are back in the car now. Cleaned off all the seat belt bolts with wirebrush and coated in copper slip before fitting so should they have to be removed again shouldn’t really cause any problems.

Now a hot shower and shave before tea.
