It's all about tyres when it comes to ruts, this is my Patrol beached on 265 70 16 but the Defender about to pull me out is on 285 75 16 that extra inch made all the difference.

Mind you my next job is to sort my towbar out as you can see I was ploughing most of the way down that track.

Kind regards

Russell.

Even with decent tyres and the standard ride height I don't think I'd have made it tbh.
I'll have another bash at it once the lifts done and I've found some decent 31's :thumb2

Put the trailer socket on the bumper and loose the tow bar for lane day. It's only 4 or 6 bolts. 31s on your T2 will be a good boost and you'll have better clearance under yours than a landy.
Ridge riding is tricky on that kinda lane and if it goes wrong your back in the doo doos anyway. get your self some waffle boards to bung in the back esp if you go out on your own.
Good choice to back out of that one too :D too many plonkers out there would just plough on and then phone a friend :doh

I have seen the socket moved on a few motors lately and I do like that idea.
Towbar I use too often to take off and put on again :lol
I'll see what it's like once it's lifted and decent tyres on but waffle boards are deffo on the list :thumb2

Shifted my sockets higher up & they stop a great deal cleaner just on road use:thumb2

Any special fittings dude? Something I'll deffo be looking into :thumb2

Nope just needed a drill & hole saw:thumbs I moved the No plate onto the back door & used a motorbike tail tidy No plate light then just drilled the old No plate mounting bracket & fitted the sockets onto it:thumbs my mounting bracket was badly damaged from an old rear end shunt but a bit of plastic welding & fibreglass soon fixed that

I fitted my sockets in the gap between the spare wheel and bumper step. Meant that I didnt need to move the number plate.
