We have just got back from a 260 mile trip and i'm well pleased with my new terry, it used less than half a tank of fuel with a lot of motorway and town driving and is so smooth, now I have done the rear UJ, and it pulls like a train.
I have always said of these cars, that you can do a long journey in them and not feel tired when you arrive, very comfy to drive and they swallow up the miles and a lot of kit:D:D

Ah I wish I could get that sort of MPG  Then again if your gauge is like mine you may be suddenly disappointed with the second half of the tanks performance :lol
Now save up and put a Tunit on it and see what it can really do :naughty

Ah you have the same guage as mine whilst its in the north its nice and frugal as soon as it starts going past half way into the south its fooking greedy and wants feeding:lol

Tunit is a little box of electrickery that tells the ECU to bung more fuel in earlier:sly It's o do with air flow at the MAF , it tells the ecu the air is colder than it is, therefore the ecu can squirt more diesel in. PSI power box is another make doing much the same I think.
Any road up it's a quick bolt on fix instead of a proper remap, and will get you around 25 extra horses, and more importantly, loads more low down grunt:naughty

more info wanted:thumb2

where or who deals with these? sounds quite interesting, and would you consider it a diy fit, as im fairly confident around an engine?:thumb2

Must admit that I'm happy with the power of the 3.0 engine as it is, plenty of low down torque and pulls very well right through the rev range and very good mpg at the mo:thumbs:thumbs

Plug and play mate :thumb2 unless you've got the very earliest ecu trucks about 1996.
Google Tunit and PSI Powerbox, read and read, enjoy :thumbs
They come up on fleabay now and then but you can get refurbed ones from the makers:rolleyes:

mines an R reg i think its 1997?

just looked at the tunit website, fantastic figures, and good improvement on both power and torque.

may well consider one before tyres, bit expensive, but do you gain on mpg too? ive heard reports in the past of improved economy with diesel tuning?

although you may be the WRONG person too ask about that:sly

OI what are you saying ?
Tunit recon about 250 ish, push them on the phone for a club deal. Make it up as you go, often works :sly
Now all repeat after me in the style of one Jezza Clarkson , "POWER" :naughty

I think that the 1997 like mine all have the Hirachi MAF and these are not plug and play ith the tunit type box but I think some one on here wired one in with some fiddling. Regards bri

That's true if it's the Hitachi era. Even so it's only 4 wires to the ecu
Takes a while to get at the bugger though

yep mine is the hitachi maf, always the bloody same, never straight forward, still going to give them a call though.

ive had my eyes open for ages...
