Yeah remove the terminals from the battery should be enough mate, send us some pics if and when you attempt it, I'm always keen to see others handywork to learn new techniques and learn from other peoples skills :thumbs
It helps to get the earth clamp as near to the weld site as possible, never have the clap at one end of the motor while welding at the other end, eddy currents can be set up that are not good, if welding the body make sure the clamp is on the body not on the chassis, you will be welding through the cars earth leads, Rick
I have to weld near the two bolts by the red circle more or less, but on the driver's side.
my plan is to remove some paint for the earth clamp just next to the crack (crack not shown) and to spot weld to avoid overheating of the rubber bushing

almost the same for me. I'll send you a pic as soon as I work on it.
fortunately the inner side has already been welded by the mechanic and i absolutely don't know why he didn't weld the outer side too!
