When Waxoyling the underside can you cover the steering linkages, wishbones etc. Is it ok comming into contact with rubber bushes, joints etc. As when spraying hard not to get any on rubbers.

If you get waxoyl onto tyres for example, it seems to cause an affect on the rubber, the tyre absorbs it and forms a slight raised area. This is temporary, and seems to go back to normal after it has dried.

I have always protected brake hoses for this reason, but you can't avoid getting some on them.

I have been using waxoyl on my Mav for 16+ years, and have encountered no issues. In fact I have used waxoyl on bushes, linkages, track rod ends, wishbones, anti roll drop link rubbers. Stops those squeaks.
I'm still on the original bushes, but I have a squeak on one ( See other post),
waxoyl has stopped the squeak, so I know which one it is, BUT I will investigate the wear, if any, on the bush ASAP just in case.

I have also waxoyled rear brake back plates, bleed nipples, rear diff.
Remove trim especially the plastic wheel arch covers, and the front wheel liners and do behind these.

Avoid brakes, discs, exhaust, heat shields, also don't block drain holes eg bottom of doors and sill bottom edges.

Don't do gearbox or engine, but a light wipe over the engine sump protects it from surface rust.

Hope this helps, but best to wait until any other members have chipped in to give their experiences of waxoyl.

Best regards, Rustic

Best place to look for an answer is waxoyl's web site. There are several videos on Youtube. These show it bein applied.David

Just been and read the can. It says don't spray on some plastics or rubber trim. Diluting with white spirit may not be a good idea. I always stand the can in a bucket of very hot water for an hour and change it regularly as it goes cold quickly. David
