Water pump has just sprung a leak :doh tbh knew it was going to happen & just like my last T2 it's gone at 70k. This will be the 3rd 2.7 pump i've changed so know how to do it but it's been around 8-9 years since I last changed one & can't remember how much anti freeze I will need will 3 litres be enough as i'm not flushing the whole system just taking rad out & changing the pump, also I used some sealant on the gasket last time but for the life of me I can't remember what I used any recommendations :augie

The whole cooling system takes 10 litres, dropping the rad bottom hose takes out about 5 litres, so it depends if you refill with concentrated, which needs 50/50 with water, or ready to use.

Hope it helps,
Rustic

Cheers Rustic:thumbs i'll get 3L then & add just over 2.5L of concentrate as what's in must be very close to the 50/50 mix going off the taste of it & yes I know it's bad for you but old habits are hard to break

pop into your local Auto shop, probably where you will be getting your A/F and get a tube of RTV gasket silicon, and make sure you A/F is the same as what is in there, do not mix pink with blue for instance, Rick

While you're doing it I'd drain the lot and refill 50/50, I've just done mine after swapping a radiator that took a stick and sprung a leak.

I used this stuff and then topped up with distilled water

When refilling, make sure you fill the radiator up fully and then drive it around with the radiator cap off and park on a hill and rev the engine a little, it will help bleed the system

Yep that the one allows the air to escape more freely I've been told and seems to work well

I'll be putting blue or green AF won't touch the pink/red OAT stuff as it reacts with the other types:augie
Cheers Banshee tbh don't fancy driving around with the rad cap off:lol last time I just putt the heater onto hot & on the screen & then drove it up onto my car ramps to get the front end higher & kept the revs up until it got to normal temp

Turn the engine over with a key that doesn't have a transponder in :sly

Mmmmm do that three times in a row and you will be blocked out, and the water pump ports are not low enough to expel all the water as well, Rick:rolleyes:
