You are correct drivewasher, and I think it got lost in one of the many updates / problems we had last year or the year before

Hi,
My old maverick must have had the same problem and was given a shoddy welding repair reminiscent of the bottom shelf in a pigeon coop!.
Unless you cut away all the rust back to clean shiny metal and properly seam weld your repair in place it just wont work under a violent shock loading - don`t assume that just because the mot tester has passed it it is sound!
Personally I`d cut back at least 1" past all rust and repair with a panel made from 3 or 4mm steel, seam welded into position. Don`t bother with a cheap argos or b&q welder, you need proper equipment.
If the welding looks anything but immaculate it`s no good.

here you go folks some freshly taken pics of the dreaded rust.....

Sorry pictures removed, please post pics in gallery in relevant section, this helps keep the site running smoothly. Thank Cameraman

as you can see it's pretty extensive and is going to need some major work to sort out i can only think it is coming in from either the rear door seal or the air vents at the rear of the vehicle as it was dry before i washed the truck then i had a swimming pool in the back after i washed the truck 8O.

any comments welcome.
regards

Same Same

hey Gego
i have the same problem although I have no holes, corrosion, just a very small indent on the interior of the wheel arch on passenger side, have undersealed both wheel arches so hopefully that will cure the problem...

pulled the carpets from me wheel arches.... opppsss there be rust bubbling... Does anyone know where to get panels to repair the wheel arches from???? or do i have to fabricate them all????

Thanks

Mark

HB made up his own plates as I don't think you can buy them for T2/Mav's

Yup made up my own. I used the spreader plates from some harness mount eye bolts to provide the threaded hole and spreader for the belts to mount into. They may be available from Nissan but there are no pattern body parts available for the T2 and I for one won't pay dealer prices for stuff like that. I had one of my contacts in the trade (one of the biggest indpendent panel suppliers in yorkshire) check it out for me.
