help! have a lot of water coming into the driver's footwell. anybody have any pointers as to where to start investigating before i start dismantling everything? all help appreciated 8)
it only comes in when it rains hard. just been reading through old posts and now have a good idea of what to do [when it stops raining!] [IF it ever stops raining!]
after shipping loads of water during the rain yesterday, I managed to get a couple of hours on the 'redthing' this afternoon. the sun shone and i got loads and loads of crud out of the gap between the wing and wheel arch. Cleaned out drain holes etc etc. So far, no water coming in when hosed down liberally but the carpet is absolutely soaking and will take a fair while to dry out!
Watch this space... more rain forecast for tomorrow and Friday
It would pay to pull the carpet up and dry out otherwise it could start rotting as the insulation material under the carper holds a lot of water, acts like a sponge. Had the same problem once and took ages to dry out so ended pulling it up.
Even when the carpet was dry the insulation was still wet.
A bit noisy driving around with no carpet but worth it in the long run
