I know there's a few threads on water ingress already but all slightly different to my problem. I noticed that after Friday's heavy rain, the carpet in the back of the truck was damp and quite squelchy in places - probably where the water had settled. I'm pretty sure that it's not entering from the top as the dog's quilt was dry on top and just damp underneath where it was in contact with the carpet. Anyone any ideas where it could be coming in from? Couldn't find any obvious signs yesterday but after today's downpour it's probably as bad again I bet.

When I first got mine the aerial leaked and filled the interior light with water. however there have been past threads regarding the same problem. It was one of the rubber door seals, someone once tracked it down to be a hollow rubber seal that had squashed with age, they threaded some wire into it to open it out. I think the water weaps down and under the plastic trim and on into the carpet.

I've always found apart from the common places from people in the know

Get in it & get someone to hold a hose over it :thumbs

Door seal or coming in under the plastic trim at the rear of the carpet.

Take plastic trim off, run a bead of sealer under it and refit.

I had to change the door seal on mine as it went flat.:doh

Got one from the parts gateway.

:)

Experienced 100% the same, One thing you can also do if you dont need to replace the rubber but want to give it a second lease of life is a good rub with silicon grease. High quality stuff easily obtained from ebay . The brand name of the stuff I have hidden somewhere handy (I'm sure we've all been there :doh ) escapes me at the mo but I know its sold to go on o rings at diving shops etc. We used to use it by the handful on aircraft rubber panel edge trim , cockpit seals and the like. :thumb2

Cheers fellas. It smells like I've left all my old wet walking boots and football boots in the truck for a fortnight... :hmh. I think that it is coming in under the door as you have said. The door seal looks a bit flimsy TBH. I'll get some of the silicon grease that you suggested Dave, although I think that I've got some or similar somewhere that I bought for the Pug when water was coming in through the aerial mount. The truck is facing downhill on my drive so that won't help matters I guess.

Should I pay attention to the bottom of the door with anything, as a couple of T2's that I looked at previously had bad rust problems down there. Prevention is better than cure etc...

Easy way to check is get in the back with the doors shut and get someone to pour a bucket of water around the door area:doh

sadly yes, turning it round will help a lot:augie:).......just check the door drain holes are clear, but the tailgate on my 99-plater has rusted around the bottom anyway, away from the drain holes :nenau

Okay, just got some Waxoyl to give the bottom of the door a good seeing to (oooh-er missus :naughty ). Dave, is this the silicone grease stuff you meant? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100g-Silicone-grease-Dow-Corning-DC4_W0QQitemZ250440585629QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item3a4f6c119d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1683%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 If so, that's what I've got already. Looking at that description, should be just the ticket.. :thumb2

Edit: NOOOOOOO..! It's MS4 Silicone compound that I have... :doh :stupid
