help please

the front washers not working :nenau
rear washer not working :nenau
rear wiper not working :nenau
( but front wipers are working )

does this sound like the stalk control at the steering wheel

i have measure the voltage at motor @ the bottle 3.2v :nenau
there are no fuses blowin......no short found !!!!!

so it must be a poor contact at the stalk or loose plug.

any ideas >>>>>> does any one have a wiring map for this T2 or a second hand stalk !!

thanks guys :bow

It could be:

Stalk
Relay
Fuses
Motors
Bad contact
Shorting out

From the r20 manual.

Looks simple:eek::confused:

I agree, they are fairly easy to follow, the difficulty is finding where these wires and connectors are.

Other than that they are well laid out and logical, what you need is a good multimeter, failing that a 12volt bulb, 2 to 5 watt, soldered to 2 lengths of wire can usually sort most things out.

The problem with a multimeter, is they have a very high input impedance, ie they draw very little current, and often show a voltage, even after it has gone through a component, or show leakage voltage. This can mislead you into thinking you have a voltage there.

The old AVO's were sometimes better.

Without a good circuit diagram, it is difficult to fault find.

AND even with one I know it is a challenge.

My first career as many of you know was an electronic engineer, so following these diagrams is straight forward to me....:doh

Good luck...

But if more than one item is faulty in that area, then you are probably safe to think that most are ok, what could have happened is a washer pump motor has stalled and this may have taken out the fuse, and will do again, until you find the fault.
The common factor here is a fuse or the control stalk and any connectors around that area.

You can test the pumps easily while in place, remove the connector and wire direct, BUT through a fuse just in case. But this is the last thing.

Hope it helps,
Best regards,

Richard (Rustic).

switch req

ok lads i can now confirm that i need a stalk switch

THE PART IAM LOOKING FOR IS ..... 25260 AV 770

CAN ANY ONE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

i have checked all the wiring / motors today and can find no fault with the system ...........which only leaves the stalk:nenau

just been quoted £ 130 + vat :doh ......robbin backward :lol

richard thanks for your input most helpful :bow

No problem Steve, be also aware that Nissan didn't design all the parts that go only into the Terrano, many parts are described as " Human" interface components, switches, etc are the same part as those used in other Nissan cars, but which one is an issue.

So you may need to widen the net when you look at second hand Nissan parts from other Nissan cars.

I'm sure there are breakers on here who can supply that part, just wait a day or so....:thumb2

Best regards, Richard

Have you checked all the earth connections? I had huge problems last year with my wipers and washers doing odd things (no delay wipe/no flick return but would go if you held the switch up/no front washers and would not switch off once going), changed the switch and moter to find it was an earthing issue :doh

The motor is rubber mounted so no earth that way even tho it is made of metal, all internal electrical contacts and wiring is isolated but has direct earth feed via the wiring connector... renewed the permanant earth and bingo! all working again :thumb2

thanks for that but i have checked the earths :thumbs

no fault found !

thanks

Well this saves me writing a new post.

Driving my 3.0 LWB tonight I lost front washers, intermittent front wipe, rear washers and rear wipe.

Headlight washers work and front wipers work in normal fast and flick wipe.

A job for the morning to check but seems as though it may also be a stalk...

sounds daft, but this time of year - frozen washer fluid?

make sure you have plenty of screenwash in there :thumb2

Washer fluid not frozen, the head lamp washers work fine.

Pulled mine apart this morning and it does appear to be the switch

check all the fuses !!!!! there are two fuses marked washer wipe this all so controls the wiper motor in inter mode :doh

also check all the earths on the loom inside the engine compartment......i had a few rusty ones !!!!

failing that i have a new stalk switch here :naughty

found a bad earth:eek: it was making and breaking 1 minute it would work and the next it wasnt :nenau and because it was arking it would then blow a fuse !!!!!!!!!!
thats not before i bought a new stalk:doh i fitted it and it made no diffrence........so now left with new stalk ( FOR SALE ):augie

so check the wiring first......and dont get caught out like me.

best of luck

steve.

Well its not fuses all okay, earths all off and cleaned and refixed including for RR wiper.... still no go. Going to try and borrow a switch from a friends Almera which should be the same...
