Washer bottle removal

Hi - I have a 1998 Nissan Terrano 2.7TDi 7 seater and the windscreen washers have stopped working. It does not sound as though the pump is working so I decided to try to access the pump to check it out. Having removed the wing liner over the offside front wheel I can touch the washer bottle tucked up between the inner and outer front wing, but cannot see how to remove it. I can only conclude that it is somehow bolted through the smaller part of the bottle that is under the bonnet where you top it up. Can anyone help me by telling me how to get the bottle out!

Thanks for this - sounds a bit drastic just to get to the washer bottle but just might have to give it a go at the weekend.

Terrano Windscreen Washer

Hello Martin,
I am trying to fix my windsceen washers and find that there is no need to move the container as the motor is a push fit in to a rubber grommet at the bottom of the water container. Disconnect electrical connection and outlet pipes and twist motor left to right while pulling out. A bit of water in the container will lubricate the movement. Ihave a 2.7TDi 2006 but the design might be similar on yours.

Same on my Terrano R3mR the motor for the screenwasher is a sort of push fit into the reservoir.

You DONT need to take the wing off...! :doh :nenau
As said above it is a small motor x2, 1 for front, 1 for rear.
The bottle should be next to your fuel filter.

Rather late, but just to round this off in case anyone else has the same problem! There are obviously different locations for the washer bottle. As I explained originally, mine is under the offside wing and is very difficult to access I eventually did it as folows:
- removed wing liner
- loosened battery and moved an inch or so sideways towards radiator
- loosened fuse/relay box on inside of wing near bulkhead
- removed the 5 or 6 nuts that hold the washer bottle, there are 3 or 4 around the washer filler, another 1 nearer the front by the battery and 1 at the rear under the fuse/relay box. It is this last that is the killer as I could only get to it with a slim open ended spanner or ratchet ring spanner after loosening the fuse/relay box and it is difficult to even see it.
- when it is all loose you can pull the filler part free, although it will not come out completely as the radiator top up bottle is in the way,
- you can then fiddle the main washer bottle free and remove it from under the wing, disconnecting water tubes and electrical connections as you go,
- once the bottle is out the motor is an easy push fit!
- I declined the offer from Nissan to sell me a new motor for £45 and instead bought one off ebay for £6:50 from a company called Redline and this is still working fine after 6 months
- be sure to wash the bottle out thoroughly - I thought I had but after a week or so the tubes got blocked and I had to pull it all out and do the job again!
