Just a quick warning to you guys.

Bought some engine belts from them and they did not fit.

Rang up, got a refund but they just refunded me for the belts and not the delivery cost too.

So now under no fault of my own I am short of 5 pounds, under the distance selling regulations they are meant to refund me in full. Yes it might only be 5 pounds but what if I payed for quicker delivery or made a bigger order?

Rang up and complained, woman on the phone sarcastically said she would sort it. Guess what nothing...

This is just a note to anyone thinking about buying from them, maybe pay with a credit card so you can get a refund easier if you land in the same situation as me.

Anyway, Won't buy from them ever again. Should of just gone to a local motor factors.

Oh deer thats not good as most are happy with them. But yeah not great result from your side bud. I'm one for using local to me people and just so happens in garage worlds its my brother in law so never any problems with returns and I know they use milners on most 4x4 stuff

As far as I'm aware they don't have to refund postage costs and as far as I can see there is no provision in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for this either.
Frustrating - yes, illegal - no (afaik).

Are you sure? as they don't fit they are unfit for purpose.

But they've refunded the cost of the belts, it's the postage that I can't see a reference to in the CRA 2015. They've done what the law obliges them to do.
As I said it's frustrating, a pita, but not illegal. Unless someone can point me to a section of the Act that specifies postgae costs being returned.

I just had a quick scan & could have missed something.

Milners refunds

I have only visited Milner Off Road in person so not been an issue for me. That said I bought an air cleaner element that did not fit my r3mR and I ended up cutting the seals down to fit as it was not worth £5.00 in Diesel to change it !

When I bought the drive belt for our Jeep I bought locally instead of off the net to avoid the problem you have encountered. Now I have the Blueprint part number I would risk a replacement by post as I now it's the right fit. Hindsight is 20/20 vision !

I have to say I've not had a problem so far with delivery. Then again I've not had a problem with parts delivered in the same way as you have.
However I'm not personally convinced about the quality of the parts.

I'm still having issues with the front ARB Links and also the exhaust I purchased last year and been running since November is rotted to hell. Not something I'm impressed with but what would they do about it, probably not a great deal.

I'm sick of hearing complaints about them, everyone I speak to seems to be having a bad time with them myself included, even though I've been the go between for the discount etc, I still feel I'm treated like a mug and was too laughed off the phone when I told them that the idler arm I'd brought didn't line up with the chassis holes.

As a consequence I'm not going to be maintaining the upkeep of the discount spreadsheet and will not be ordering from them again either.

While is doesn't say in the link you have to refund the original postage cost, I've asked my boss about this and I work for a business that runs a online store and he says they have to.

Emailed citizens advice to find out 100% anyway.

I tend to use our local motor factors for most of my stuff as it's usually the cheapest and pretty good quality sadly this time I wasn't planning on going to my local town any time soon.

Sorry to hear all of this. I've never had any issues with delivery or quality of my orders...

While this is true I am after a refund on the original delivery cost
Job's a good 'un then, they owe you the money without dispute. Fire them an email with a link to the relevant legislation of Distant Selling Regs and make sure you get everything in writing. :clap

What ever people's opinions of suppliers nobody could ever be critical about you Banshee, you've done nothing but help people:thumbs

I think this is a case of 'don't shoot the messenger'.

Banshee did the best by us all trying to get this discount sorted, it's not his fault that they are behaving a bit 'cavalier'......:nenau

I've never had any issues with them but I live fairly close so nip over and pick up stuff.
If they sent you the wrong parts then it's their mistake and they should refund everything :nenau

It'd be interesting to see a member of Milner staff come on here to reply. :naughty

Fat chance, too busy packaging up crap for us muppets :doh

I'm seriously wanting to go into this kind of thing, how hard is it to source an original part, do a bit of D&R and then get it mass produced under a new name :nenau

Go for it, I will place an order soon as you are up & running.

This is the poem that springs to my mind...

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

In the above, the horseshoe nail is the return postage lol, the kingdom, could be the business, it doesn't take much for a bad word to get around, for the kingdom to be lost, all for the want of one return postage.

They sent the wrong part, they should rectify it with the correct part ASAP, arrange collection of the faulty part at their expense.
In my opinion, if they can't fulfill the original contract they should refund all costs, back to the point as if the order hadn't been placed at all. This includes postage costs too.
On a couple of occasions I had ordered things from China c/o ebay, not only have they refunded the price, but postage too, and they have said would I be able to dispose of the faulty goods, yes, no probs... into the project box lol...
