ok so yesterday pop out to do shopping only short trip no probs going but half way home got this really loud noise & car would judder a bit :doh(sounds like if you was holding something against the blades of a fan but very very loud) pulled over asap switched off engine & had a good look around but couldn't find anything out of place. restarted car ok, rev engine ok, pull away noise back, stop car, check gear changes thoroughly (engine off) including 4 wheel drive (not been used 6 months) start car ok, reverse few yards ok, creep forward ok, so carefully drive off, noise gone. took it out today stopped & started quite a few time still ok. Any thoughts on what might have happenened

One of your front hubs sticking, probably needs a good strip down and clean. Mine stuck and over heated big time several years ago, i pulled up and as i was walking away from the car there was smoke coming from the nsf wheel.

had to put new discs & pads on about 6 months ago so were cleaned & greased then, but will have a look, thanks

Are you talking about the auto locking hubs?

It's normally the auto lockers that give the trouble. Check the brake ring with the lugs on the inside edge, they tend to crack and shear off which causes the two rings to lock together.

OK thanks just checked the workshop download again need to get some copper slip before I strip them

Hypoid gear oil will do for lubing you auto hubs.:thumb2

Had to do that with with the auto hub on my last T2 poured 3/4 of an egg cup of engine oil into them & it stopped them sticking:thumb2

Classic auto hubs sticking that is, you've not eve had one lock on you have you?

Oh god, that's scary!!!!!

Once a year at least for you to just chuck a bit more grease in than a complete strip down to be fair
