hi guys, just wondering whether i can use veggi oil in my terrano, 2.7td with hitachi maf and fuel pump

Plenty on here do.
I prefer to use bio from a reputable manufacturer but each to their own.
Just be ready to change the fuel filter more often:thumb2

Get on it mate, I've started on clean then started collecting my own waste from restaurants etc which is a long and tedious process stick to clean stuff until you get used to it.

Buy a few filters and be prepared to change them regularly at first as the veg is stickier than Diesel and will pull through any crap that's in your tank.

Mix 10% diesel to whatever you put in and you'll be good to go

This just thins things down so as to not put any excess strain on your injector pump and also gives it the additives it needs to stay working nice

As said i know bosch maf/pump. Just dont want to drop u in it with your hitachi.

If hitachi can run on veggie, we can meet up in Trowbridge an get u some at 80p ltr

I'm running the Hitachi setup and never had a single issue apart from my pickup swirl chamber in the tank getting blocked with coniffers and leaves but that was my own fault

Good old veggie, I love the stuff.

It's worth researching this properly though.

I am actually on completely neat with two stroke oil mixed in, about 400ml to 40 litres of average, I d nt actually measure.

My perfect mix is usually 60l veggie

About 10-15 quids of diesel some redex and two stroke oil.

Purrs like a dream :thumb2

Oh and by the way, rapeseed oil is what you want. Not any old cooking oil although it will still do the job. :thumb2

diesel doesnt thin veggi at all i run the cheapest with some petrol to thin it. these thing run on almost anything veggi deisel petrol mix but this time of year neat veggi iv never had an issue or needed to replace my fuel filter any sooner. bio on the other hand will clean your tank n pipes out but after a couple of tanks all clean then replace ur filter.
loads of info on here try the search

I'd have to disagree there as I've measured the viscosity of both and the veg mixed with Diesel was a lot less viscous than neat veg

I mix with diesel and find it works fine for me. Tbh when its this warm you cant really get it wrong! As most of us know winter time is a different storey when using veg!!

I'm mixing with diesel. At the moment I'm putting a tenner's worth of diesel to 4 gallon of veggie and the Patrol is running bloody Luvly. I could probably put more veg in tbf

I think we should close the subject of petrol vs diesel for good.

Some agree with the use of petrol and some disagree.

I personally believe that the fueling system being oil based is run and lubricated at the same time, and running even small quantities of petrol through will clean the internals of injectors and pump ect running it dry (if only for micro seconds) thus wearing the internals quicker than normal.

On the other hand people argue that the viscosity of the veggie being thick will put a huge strain on the injector pump. :nenau

Adz is confident his old truck died on veggi, however I will still use veggie as the saving in cost has prob already outweighed a fuel pump :augie
