I've been doing some research as I've got a spare Bosch VE IP in the garage and I've heard that you can rebuild the seals on them with Veg Proof Viton seals :naughty
I'm going to get these 2 parts ordered and then when mine inevitably dies in the future I have a nice strong one to go back on
Spoke to Diesel Bob this morning and he's advised me of what's needed to do the job.

Here's the parts;

Watch this space, when I finally get round to doing it I'll do a write up with plenty pics in here :thumb2

Is there any chance the new seals will perish while in storage?

Do not believe all they tell you, they lie, and do not give a sh**, Rick

Sorry no disrespect meant but had a look at that first ebay link, the bloke has 80% positive feedback and comes from Crook. Sorry just made me smile.

Anyway good luck with the project, theres not many people that will play with injector pumps. Plenty of pics please:thumbs

I don't see how the seals would perish just because the pump is off the truck, what's different to that than the pump being attached to a scrapper truck that's been stood dormant for a few years :nenau

Replacing the rubber seals for Viton ones is very very well documented online for the Bosch pumps and there's some hardcore Veg Veterans out there that swear by it.

Damn....... This thread got a cold reception

Can vouch for the use of viton seals for veg oil use:thumb2
We make stainless pump housings at work for the food industry and all the veg oil associated pumps use viton seals and pipework.
As for seal degradation it will happen over time regardless of circumstances.
I say go for it Zac!!!
You have obviously done a lot of research into this and I know from chatting with you personally that what you are doing is not a cheap process :thumb2

id have thought clean veg oil would be less seal damaging than diesel but i can see how reclaimed oil with nitrates and other nasties might eat seals

Not a cold reception pal. The more questions asked the more learnt. I can't wait to see the photo'd thread. Don't know anyone who's pulled apart an ip. :clap

when my bosch ip failed a few years ago rick sent me one,no idear how long its stood but i just fitted it and all is well.
i still have the old ip sitting here but the vane pump in it is goosed as it would not suck.i meant to take it apart but not got around to it.
