Has this ever been available ?

Just for the rear side windows and rear screen.

I guess I could do it myself with some dark polycarbonate/acrylic etc ?

There are a few LWB commercials they seem to all be in Ireland, I'm sure we have at least one member with one. Why do you want to convert?

I would check with your insurance before you do anything though, a lot don't even like tinted windows :thumb2

in uk, only know of swb commercial, as per plank's.

heard of lwb in ROI, other commercial spings to mind
is current pathfinder, a lwb, and the early discovery
was offered as a van, think the 3 door version of mk1.

i've always wondered about them...but didnt know if thay existed, do people make them there self or do thay come from nissan:nenau:nenau

err read my post.........;)

factory but not built for long. suspect didnt sell.

seems most folks with a genuine commercial then
want to retro fit rear seats, even the side windows.

ironic as many 3 door passenger types gut theirs
to make more room for off road kit...

The with or without seats thing is largely a tax thing. For a couple of years it was popular in England. Buy a new 4x4 with no back seats, registered as a commercial and enjoy commercial vehicle road tax and company tax benefits. remember ROI had ridiculous road tax rates many years before we did :doh

Haoe your not towing with it then. As sson as MVW exceeds 3.5 you have to fit a tachograph, not matter what its being used for.

not necessarily:

the law seems to be a bit of a 'euro-mess' on this as, strictly speaking, if a car has a train weight of greater than 3.5 tonnes it would then need a tacho if used in connection with a buisness, so a range rover for the director would need a tacho?

a minefield!

You are indeed correct, however, the non comerrercial carrying of goods, means you can not use it for anything other than your own use. So if you were to help you sister move house and put a trailer on then you would be commiting an offence, even if she is not paying you.

If you have your own caravan on then your Ok, but not your mates as its not yours.

As you say its an "EU" Mess, but its one i have to deal with everyday as its part of my job. No wonder my head is always spinning :lol

The directors Range Rover would be exempt, providing he had no tow ball on the back. However im sure he can still use it up to 3.5t but i stand to be corrected!

It's one of those things that will be very hard to define or apply in the real world, rather like the laws on carrying waste. The same applies, if you take a bag of your next door neighbours rubbish to the tip you need a licence, but not for your own? Or as a mobile mechanic if you fit new parts you need a licence to carry the old ones, if you take them home and put them in your bin you have to be a licenced waste transfer station.

I think that when they make rules this complicated it is inevitable that they are broken, makes you wonder why they do it :nenau
