Hi all I'm fitting a dash cam and was wondering is it possible to cut the fitting of the end of the cable and wire it directly into the interior light ?? Cheers

As Zippy says... no...

If you lokk on my "Jiggly" thread, there are pictures and a link to a way you can do it with a module from Ebay.

You can buy hard wire kits that step down the voltage & use an add a fuse connector (look on evilbay) & connect it to an ignition live in the fuse box:thumbs

ajusterble voltage step down about £3 from bay.make sure you have a meter on it to adjust volt down though.fitted one for my shower in van, shower uses 6v.

you can get a voltage regulator for less than a £1, depends on how envolved you want to get into it, you can buy a prebuilt unit for a couple of ££ or you can look a little into electronics and come up with something like a L7805CV voltage regulator and fit that, the important thing is the current draw of the dash cam, its unlikely to be higher than 1A so a voltage regulator will do the trick, very tiny and can be hidden easily (might need a heatsink though)
personally it depends on the mood, sometimes I want to build and understand and other times I'm happy to use something prebuilt

if it helps, I did the Lazy-Ferret mod (brilliant idea by the way Clive) and it works a proper treat.

I used a bit of Sugru as well for fixing the USB to the light control unit - looks pretty good. Very easy job as well.
