drill it out and use some eezi outs would do it you wont be able to to hammer it out as its a captive nut on the bottom
try some mole grips on bit showing through nut on bottom?
bit embarrissing getting aa out for a sheared 8mm bolt:nenau

is the old air filter mount 4 holes or two,if four could you mount the l bracket on tother side and not overtighten it?

In fact I don't know why I didn't think of it before....if you've got a set of mole grips (and you bloody well should!) just clamp the bracket to the plate with them and sort it out when you get your easyout kit....

you say Kirkby? i am in Selston, if you are stuck i can drill it out for you and put nut and bolt on.
let me know, busy tomorow morning, maybe afternoon, or weekend.

Just used some grips to remove the bolt and put me a nice shiney new one in.....

Then gave me a lecture about putting foreign / alien air filters on my truck, whats wrong with the stock one blah blah blah rofl!"!"!!

should have redrilled it and saved all the bother. :augie:thumb2

So, now go buy some mole grips and a tenners worth of easy-outs and put them in your toolbox.

You do have a toolbox don't you? :doh:lol:lol

And tell him the stock one breathes like a blocked lavatory.

do they make a big diferance?

zip tie it back on, "if you cant mend it with a zip tie, it probably isnt that broken!"

like i said before, if you do get stuck, ony 5 mins away.

well the problem is that without that stabilising bracket the filter head is only held on by the jubilee clip to the air inlet pipe....not that it will fall off but its fairly chunky and puts a lot of load on the plastic adaptor which on earlier ones was prone to a bit of mild cracking under continuous vibration...better not to abuse it.:thumb2

is power realy up with k+n? what is noise like?
do a lot of miles in mine, and dont want a roar all the time, it will keep me awake!

In terms of engine noise there is hardly any difference on mine, just sounds smoother. The only noise the K+N itself makes is like a whistle / sucking noise that you can hear if you boot it, if you drive sort of economically and whatnot you can hardly hear it. As you can all tell by now I aint no car engine expert but I would certainly recommend a K+N.

Smoother running, defo better fuel consumption and nice sounding!

when put mine on tdi maverick didnt notice any power increase or any real noise increase just helped lift air filter inlet out of the waters way an inch or two and as my mrs keeps tellingg me a couple of inches extra is better than less lol.
