Urgent Advice Needed - Draining '04 Fuel Tank

The drain nut appears to be missing on my 04 where it once was on my '96, I've got a bit excited with my new diesel pump and put too much veg in leaving no room for Diesel and the car will hardly move

what's the quickest way to drain the tank, I've got to get to cardiff tonight, already tried syphoning the tank and the pipe doesn't go in far enough

Yes they deleted the drain plug on later models its a right pain no idea how to get the fuel out though sorry

you should be able to get a pipe in the filler, but failing that a sucker pump on the flow pipe to the filter, or even a wet vac, a bit slower would be to extend the pipe after disconnecting it from the filter and get the pipe as low as you can and give it a brief suck after that it will self syphon, Rick

Once warm it'll run fine just a bit more sluggish.

I agree with them both, but when I syphon liquids, I usually put about 3-4 Stainless Steel M8 nuts on the end of the pipe, tied on, or wired on through the end if the pipe.
IF... it does make it into the tank, then it should rest on the bottom.
I use stainless... you never know, if they did fall off... in what ever liquid you are transferring...less to rust.

I did this on my washer bottle, I drained the fluid, then replaced the pump, then put the washer fluid back.
Some call me tight... just because I turn the gas off when I turn the bacon over, or turn the wipers off when I go under a bridge...

Sorry guys just been a bit busy, I managed to get it sorted in the end.

I went in via the boot floor, removed the inspection hatch and then removed the guard that seals the swirl chamber into the tank. I always carry a syphon pump with me , one pipe into the tank and one into a 20l drum to remove the fuel that was in the tank.

Managed to get enough out to put some Diesel in to get it right again.

It's all just been a bit full on this week
