Hi there,
I've just seen in a post that you can up the boost presure on older tdi's from 1 to 2 and increase fuel presure. Whats classed as an old t2 and how do you go about tweaking the old girl.

Cheers Ryan

You cant do that on the tdi's as its a flyby wire system and the fueling is set by the ecu you could up the boost pressure but you would get very little gain.
On the older vehicles pre 1996 with a mechanical fuel pump you can raise the boost pressure so that more air is delivered to the engine and tweak the fuel pump to deliver more fuel its the quickest and easiest method to get more bhp out of the engine but on the tdi you will have to use a super chip or black box try www.dieselbob.com but being an early tdi it will have the bosch/hitachi system and you will have to get the chip soldered into the ecu. I have the bosch/hitachi system and find that it has enough power without any mods these vehicles aren't designed for speed.

still struggling on hills its 2nd 3rd 2nd 3rd 2nd 3rd then finally peak and finally get going the oldies are begining to tail gate me its embarrasing and im getting RSI

your airflow meter/maf may be duff without these cars really flat and underpowered

Yes I think you may have a problem with your maffs sensor i would try disconnecting it and see if theres a difference

tried it thought i'd unplugged the engine not the maf! no mini filter either why can't i get an easy fix! tried with new fuel filter, air filter, no filter, half tank of des and full 'redex' all with no joy, maybe the hill's fault just too big for the old gal!
