sweeeet!!! nice upload speed, max will be 2Mb i think at the moment, but im sure I heard they were upping that again later this year??

Been on 50meg for a yr now and never really regretted it.:D:D

But I have better green lanes here and basicly no crime.

dunno what it all means though lol!

It actually means feck all. Doing a speed check is the ONLY time you'll see your max download capability as its cutting out nearly all latency and only sending a tiny amount of data from which it extrapolates your 'speed'.

Most web pages max at about 1Mb/s and if you add in interrnet latency, database lookups, throttling and all the other garbage, you'll never get anywhere near the advertised service.

Because the speed test is so blatantly fraudulent the only real way to check the speed of a big download.

For example, I pay for 10Mb and the fastest download speed I can get anywhere (films from various sites) is around 700kb/s with just one download running and nothing else working.

Its a dirty great big con. Sorry.:D

i did mine with this site open, sons ps3 on some mad war game, mrs on her netbook (facebook what else lol) and sons laptop running ebay (hes selling mad war game cheats lol) i know when hes got films downloading it chuggs esp if limewires his choice of the day!
going over to this bt infiniti soon

try this site .... gives a lot more info

http://myspeed.visualware.com/index.php

Does it? :nenau Not being funny but as I said, All it does is send a tiny amount of data to a server that does nothing but 'speed' tests. It doesn't send 100Mb with a 100Mb link for example, just enough (a few dozen Kb if you're lucky) so that it can extrapolate what you could send to that server if all the other restrictions weren't there.

Doesn't escape the fact that Gav will never download anything at 50Mb or anywhere near it.

As Jace says, great if you want more people connected, but in reality a 10Mb service that works to its full capacity would be under-utilised by a single user.

also depends on the contention ratio a lot, and the remote servers upoad ability and load at the time, theres so much to consider, but speed test sites are meant as a guide, and they arent real world. The best real world download I can get is just short of 2Meg (my max) via torrents or Microsoft.

thats what i need is average connexion for every device,ps3,xbox360,wii,3 pcs 3 lappys phones etc some cabled some wireless bloody scary when u think how much a single phone line does!

If this was BarryBoys I'd be requesting a screen cap of even that LOL :thumb2

wow, well thats 50% faster than when i use another test

ie broadband speedchecker, to be fair thats saying 3008 kb/s
and upload of 501 kbs/s which suggests they are equal, perhaps
equally fudged. but nice suprise as whatever last time tried
was about 2Mb/s.

not great but fine for bit of surfing and this district doesnt get
cable.
