Just to let anyone know who might be interested about my breakdown the other day: It was the clutch. I talked to the garage today and it should be ready for Saturday or Monday they are not sure yet. £520 is what it is going to cost me I don,t Know if that's good or not so good, but they usually do a good job, so thats that:clap

ouch!!

as an example, I believe Jims-terrano had his done for around £320 including parts/labour, BUT, £500+ is what id have expected before Jim has his done, so probably about right mate. gear box out, clutch in, fluids etc etc, big job! Probably going to get mine done next year then its done.:thumb2

Is yours slipping then Clive, saw a clutch on Milners for £92 don't know what it is like mind, and I still recon it is better to take the engine out as you have full control of the lump on the hoist, box is balanced on some makeshift trolley and if it drops a little once into the center plate, the plate is bent and will tear itself out in no time, on the hoist you have much better control and most of the work is carried out under the bonnet not laying on your back, Rick

Got everything sorted just after my last post. Finished costing me £500 for cash. I,m a lot poorer but happy, any how a Happy New Year to you all. CHEERS.

When my gearbox went in a big way a few months ago I had to have it completely overhauled, plus a clutch, plus the transfer box overhauled while it was on the ramp, it cost me £1900 (for a car I had paid £1500 for 6 months earlier) - feel I was probably ripped off (it was done by a gearbox "specialist" company) but at the end of the day it's all about peace of mind, I had a journey to southern Spain coming up a week later so I had to be sure it was right.
