I've looked and looked where the coolant was coming from but can't find anything, the water pump is all dry and no leaks today but one thing I did find was a damp patch on the bash plate towards the middle of the radiator ?? Would it be worth me trying some of that stuff you put in with the coolant to stop leaks as I remember my mother in laws fiesta had a nasty leak were the inlet manifold bolts onto the head and that rad weld stuff seemed to stop it ok ?? What you think is it worth trying and can it do any damage. Thankyou

Personally I would advise against using it. I have nothing to support what I'm saying I've never used it and I assume they have done testing but if it blocks holes could it also congeal in pipes or partially block water ways in the block? What I have done in the past once I found the leak (stone in rad) is remove and dry the rad use sand paper around the hole open it up to about .5mm and fill it with solder using a torch use plenty, block the line and cover the hole completely. Used this method on a rad and air con condenser both with lasting results

I used rad weld on my last T2 due to a slight weep from a hose during the winter & it fixed it & never had any probs but I think K seal is the best stuff:confused:

Have you removed the bash plate to see if you can see the leak, if not, I would whip it off and have a look.

Worth remembering that when the engine is hot the water will evaporate. Also from my experience there's to be only a short window of time that the water pump leak is visible. It's when engine is cooling and the cooling system is still pressurised. My money is still on the water pump causin the leak especially since you've seen signs of water in centre at the front of the car.

I personally wouldn't use radweld or anything like it, years ago I bought a Rover 820 nice car but the heaters wasn't very hot, not long after radiator started leaking, I took it to have a re-core done, and told him about the problem he said straight away someone has put radweld in it and it will have clogged some of the water channels up. It cost about £20 to have them power flush it and was lovely and warm after that.

The water pump normally leaks from the bottom so you need to remove the bash plate & use a torch to find it but in most cases it's just a tiny dribble so can be hard to spot:doh

Thanks for all your help on this matter you really are a great bunch :thumb2 when I get home from work in the morning I'm going to get it up in the air and remove the bash plate while it's still warm and have a butchers to see was going on. :D
