Hi there, I'd like to hire a mechanic who's VERY familiar with the Terrano 2.4 Petrol, to have a serious look at my engine inside to see if it's healthy, and if yes, to give it a good service because the previous owner mentioned it needed it.
I'm located in London, my car is currently located near Blackpool, and for the right and honest professional, I'd drive out of my way.

Thanks I appreciate

Email sent but you have to come to me in East Sussex, Rick

But I have to ask why on earth you wanted to swap the 2.7 for the 2.4? Rick

Hi there Rick and good morning,
Thank you for your reply and your email reply as well.
I would've definitely kept the 2.7 diesel, but the country I'm exporting my car to, doesn't allow importation of 2nd hand cars with diesel engines. One is allowed to own a diesel if they purchase the car new locally there.
Which is why I went with the 2.4, organically, it's one of the closest options there were.

It's a very special one,
While it is London Taxi spec, meaning it is almost as powerful as the Terrano one (same engine though).
It's a VERY special engine because it only has 3,000 Kms on it (yes, three thousand kilometers)
The reason for that is because the London taxi I found in Portugal had NEVER been used, it sat doing nothing for 27 years.
I had to get it running again because bodyshop places wouldn't even give me a quote because if the engine wasn't working, they'd have to push the car in and out of the shop manually, and that's not something they wanted to do.
So I got a solid recommendation for a London Taxi mechanic in south london (who ONLY fixes cabs, and whom is very familiar with the TD27) who changed quite a few parts, including all fuel lines, master/slave components, brakes, and of course the injection pump.
There were additional things he replaced, but I can't remember at the moment.

All in all, I spent close to £1000 on bringing the engine back to factory perfect, and in the end I was highly advised to "first do the engine swap, then worry about the bodywork"
So I didn't even end up using the TD27 in the end.

I have it, and it will soon be up for sale.
(I need to recuperate some of the costs of this cost accumulating london taxi project)

I also have the 1998 Terrano petrol (without engine + gearbox + ECU/electrics) for sale.

It only has 62,000 miles, I was fortunate to find it. It's in very good condition.
