well i was looking at keeping the standard alloys which are 15's as i dont really care if they get damaged

i dont really do extreme off roading just the odd lane but am going to have a play at briercliffe in a week or so

the reason i ask is i have 4 different tyres on mine lol

jupiter radial at on the front 2 (1 nearly limit)
bfgoodrich land terrain 1 rear:doh (fairly new)
avon ranger at rear 1 :doh
technic radial tracker II spare :doh (brand new)

the only reason i was looking to go bigger was to get more speed out of the rev range in 5th ie sitting at 70 with 2500rpm
31" makes it nicer to drive any bigger and your giving it gas to pull away and up the gears but obviously less gas on the fast roads.

31" will be fine... but make sure you get a matching set. and change your lsd oil on the rear. i bet odd tyres have given the dif a hiding recently

What is 30s & 31s in metric? as I shops don't seem to list imperial dimensions.

Edit: Actually camskill do, Doh. :lol

bought the car with tyres on so dont really have a clue lol:nenau

i think the lsd is a bit knackered any way so this could be the reason

as when i get to sharp turns 1 wheel always moves the gravel on the inside :doh

so out of the three decent ones i have jupiter bfg land terrain and the trekker ii which would be the better mixed off road and road tyres if i was going to stay the same size

as when i get to sharp turns 1 wheel always moves the gravel on the inside :doh - it will its a dif with limited slip. this means both wheels on that axle will turn. the limited slip bit allows it to slip a bit to allow steering. thats why same tyres and equaly worn is essential on these or it will over work the lsd (itll think its going around a permanent corner if one is smaller than the other)

see above

for my money id shop around for a new set of 4 you know they are right, no previous damage. and you can get replacements if needed

Still got my Chrome wellers with two new tyres 265/70/15's Might be a good starting place. check out items for sale it was a while ago but there still in the corners of my garage!!
Could meet you somewhere near if interested.

You mentioned gearing and speed around 2500 rpm. Dont forget your speedo is reading well over what your speed actually is:eek:
I'm on 33s and would say 70mph (sat nav) is actually about 2500
So I think you'd need some pretty big 37s plus to make a real reduction in revs, but then you'd be so over geared the engine would die:eek:
My engine is tweeked a bit so is quite happy on 33s in 5th.:D
Wouldn't advise it on a TD though, ask Adz:augie

Only really notice it up hill

But my engine has been played with now :sly :naughty

So 37's will be fine :D
