I read through the sticky on tyres and i was just wonring what size tyres i would get away with without having to mod my truck? any ideas?

thanks, but bit thick when it comes to this, all new to me, in the past i just took my car to a tyre centre and they put on the right ones for me lol, my current tyres are 235 75 15

Ah the old tyre size chestnut:rolleyes:

Are you going to do a suspension and or body lift?

You can get 31s on there but you'll need to loose the mud flaps and probably flatten the inner wing flanges with my favorite tool :sly
33s if you do 2" lift and use a bigger hammer :lol

As long as the bolts are the right thread all should be well:D

if you do it, tell us and do a few pics.. so other may folow

Upto 30's with no mods

31's require a front wheel arch trim

32's & above require major front arch cutting

35's & above require rear arch cutting

:thumbs

If i done mine again  I'd settle for 30's with a +2 shock & rear spring lift & a 2" body lift

What are these weird tyre sizes, i must be old school and dont understand all this 31's, 32's & 35's etc...
My truck has 265/70/16, sizes like these i can understand?

:doh 305/70/16 is metric for 33s :D or near enough 12.5" wide and about 8.75" tall on a 16" rim in my case

Upto 30's with no mods

31's require a front wheel arch trim - not on standard rims , just very slight mud flap trim with stanley knife

32's & above require major front arch cutting

35's & above require rear arch cutting- body lift 2" and massive body trim

If i done mine again  I'd settle for 30's with a +2 shock & rear spring lift & a 2" body lift - if i was starting from scratch id do a 2" body lift leave the running gear alone and pop 33x 10.5 x 15 muds on . 10.5 is plenty wide enough, slight offset rims (nothing stupid like ours)
and pop one of makeitfits idler braces on .
thats all you need . a bit of body lift will save you loads of heartache on broken steering later on . sloght bodywork/bumper trimming will prevent damage there and wont stand if done tidy . it will do almost what ours can with less hassle and money spent

... added my thoughts

I am also thinking of tyres. This thread is helping me alot.

so for standard i could look at 255 75 15 which is a frontera wheel

any body any experiance of the avon ranger ?

I have 235/75 R15 Avon rangers, they are great in the winter, ice snow, behave well on the open road, road noise is low. I have done nothing serious off road, other than slipways for a 2 tonne boat.
I used to have Coopers discoverer but I thought that the compound was too hard and the front wheels skidded easily (no ABS on my Mav).

I bought mine from Craddocks of Cannock, they were around £50 each inc balance and fitting, list price is closer to £85+

Just remembered, should have given a warning about Craddock, they deal mainly with
the green oval brigade.. so they sell loads of spares and replacement parts for them as well.
When I went in for mine, I made sure no one recognised me ...

im hoping your keeping your standard terrano wheels , if so just go for runway enduro a/t in 31 x 10.5 15 or 16
if your changing your wheels too. see adz he has loads of modular rims. but dont go really deep dish....

but at the same time avoid frontera and trooper rims they have the opposite effect and the tyres are inset more and simply wont fit.

if your looking on ebay for wheels or stuff like that , just send me adz or makeitfit a link and we can advise , without making public what your are chasing ;)

oh and if your looking for a body lift later on see terranosorus he does a fantastic kit

well i was looking at keeping the standard alloys which are 15's as i dont really care if they get damaged

i dont really do extreme off roading just the odd lane but am going to have a play at briercliffe in a week or so

the reason i ask is i have 4 different tyres on mine lol

jupiter radial at on the front 2 (1 nearly limit)
bfgoodrich land terrain 1 rear:doh (fairly new)
avon ranger at rear 1 :doh
technic radial tracker II spare :doh (brand new)

the only reason i was looking to go bigger was to get more speed out of the rev range in 5th ie sitting at 70 with 2500rpm
