The tyres & sizes plus ratting with usage that i have used so far...

Bridgestone Dueler 689
235/75R15
Road usage & 1st off road trip to Wales
On road 10/10 No noise & good grip in both wet & dry
Off road 2/10 in the damp or wet they just Dont grip

General Tyre Grabber A/T2
235/75R15
Road usage & 1st off road trip to Wales
On road 10/10 No noise & good grip in both wet & dry
Off road 6/10 Cope well for a all terrain tyre but does clog up






BFGoodrich A/T
31x10.50R15
Road / Green Laning & pay'n'play
On road 10/10 Superb
Off road 5/10 over rated & clogs fast in boggy surfaces






Maxxis Buckshots

Road / Green Laning & pay'n'play
On road 6/10 ok but roll in the dry & don't grip in the wet
Off road 8/10 good in the dry but doesn't clear fast enough in boggy surfaces

Good idea!

Well I'm waiting for my tame local tyre centre to come back with prices, but will be going for a set of 4 235/75R15 A/T's within the next week before my annual trip to Aviemore. I've narrowed the choice down to:

Toyo Open Country A/T
Pirelli Scorpion ATR
General Grabber AT2
Goodyear Wrangler AT-R
Continental ContiCrossContact AT

(I'll probably be getting either the Toyos or Pirellis, but whatever I get will have OWL 'coz I'm a tart)

So I can only currently comment on these:

Maxxis MA751
235/75R15
Road usage (including lugging a pikey-van), grassy fields and very light 'laneing.
On road 10/10: No noise & very good grip and stability in both wet & dry.
Off road 2/10: Very wet mud may as well be sheet ice! Cope with fairly rough dry ground so long as you're going really slow.

I'd go with the Grabbers as thats the only 1 i have used but the Toyos would be the best i reckon as i don't & never have liked Pirelli...

I bought a couple of Avon Rangers yesterday, (235 75 R 15 A/T) less than £100 fitted & balanced for the pair.
They do others as well for all cars and 4X4's.
There main shop is selling spares for L R...s A Big Shop full of everything built since 1959 :augie
I felt really embarrassed going into a LR Spares shop, but I didn't think any one recognised me....:augie

Well, my tame supplier came up with BFG A/T KO at £100 a corner, but is unable to source the Toyo's, even though he's a Toyo dealer.

However, blackcircles.com came up trumps with a set of 4 Toyo Open Country AT's on special at £300! Being fitted on Saturday at a local garage too, so if anyone needs any very good part-worn Maxxis MA751's, I have 4 for sale...

Fitted 4 Premier M/T recently from 4x4AT.

235 75 15 @ £66.70 each delivered (the next day) fitted at work for free and all 4 balanced elsewhere for £20.

Not used in deep mud yet but very good on wet roads and grass and very quiet too.

Treads about 13mm. was going to fit 31 10.5 maxxis but as I tow a lot decided against it.

£376 on ebay , no rot and not far off mot'ing

Can't damage the Mav any more as I use it to tow customers caravans (and my own). So the plan is to only use the Mav for easier green lanes and the series for trials and fun days.

Grass, mud, sand dry or wet​

Just absolutely 100% the nuts​

Are Michelin any good?

My Mav had four Grabbers on, and how good they were in the snow. Got puncture and put the spare on - a Michelin 4x4 Mand S. Seems ok, any comments on them?

i've just had four toyo h/t's 235/75r15 fitted to mav, but was wandering how good they actually are. i dont know whether to change my wheels and tyres for bigger in order to get some lift. is this tyre the biggest i can fit on my standard alloy rims.

believe with out lift limit is 31x10.5x15 though may need to remove
front flaps. not sure on standard rims though.

RMJ that is a nice LR, always fancied one as a toy myself, ideally same age as me...
so that should make it a 2a? (68) maybe air portable,v8,....
