Goodness only knows why I'm struggling to get tyres. I went to my local tyre house that has been extremely reliable but they were taken over a while ago and have seriously gone down hill.

At the moment I have Toyo Open Country on the truck but fancied going back to HTs to see if the mpg would be any better. The tyre company seem unable to get the toyos and some budget tyres with a totally different tread pattern. If I could get toyo i could manage with one tyre but if I could get back with half decent HTs then I'd have a pair until the other two were ready for changing then I'd move over totally HTs.

Only 235 15 inch nothing special are they.

I'm no h'expert, but I'd have thought that going from A/T's to H/T's would probably make naff all difference to mpg.

At the end of the day, a brick is a brick. What it rolls on is probably fairly inconsequential.

I had Toyo Open Country on my old 2.7, and I have a worn out set on my current 3.0, but I am changing all four next month for General Grabber A/T's. I am hoping that the Grabber's will be a bit more agressive, I only really do a bit of mild off-roading in the shooting season, but it tends to be slippery mud/grass.

Online options ?

When I wanted some Goodyears for my Jeep I spent a lot of time on the net and was quite surprised to find some F1 Autocentres did very competative prices online. You pay and make an online appointment usually a couple of days away depending on stock and branch popularity.

Just buy online and get the garage to put them on if they can't get what you want.
