Does any one know if it's ok to mix tyres? I have BF Goodrich all terrains on the back. Mates got some BF mud terrains going cheep, was going to throw them on the front. Any thought? Cheers. Chris

I wouldn't but if you stay in 2wd all the time not a problem.

If the 2 front wheels are slightly bigger or smaller than the rear it can cause windup in the transmission as there is no centre diff in the transfer box. (front and rear axle spin at the same speed)

Usually mud terrain tyres are bigger than ATs even though they have the same size stamped on the side.

Let the At's do the steering and breaking at the front and let the mudders do the graft at the back IMO:thumb2

You get that anyway though, don't you? :nenau

I wouldn't recommend having differently-sized tyres on both axles due to the potential for upsetting the handling, plus the tyres may well have different grip levels which might cause you issues. As long as 4wd isn't used on high-traction surfaces though, I wouldn't think wind-up would be an issue.............
