265/70/15 on at the moment seen seen some 255/75/15 for sale the 255 is that the actual height from floor to top of tyre will have been answered before, but me being thick n all

255 is tread width in mm. 75 is % of tread width as the profile(sidewall)

So these 255 would be 10 mm narrower but stand a bit higher

yep 10mm narrower. its 75% of 255mm instead of 70% of 265mm so about 6mm difference. 12mm overall i think?

Although some tyre makers seem to write whatever they want on it as a size as they are so far out, Like insa turbos.

6 mm is spot on the money.

The 255's are the bigger tyer @ 191 mm and the 265 are @ 185 mm

Im running on 265/75/16 giving me 198 mm or 31's as they are also known.

31 = 31" from the floor to the top of the tyer, some will have it on the side wall and read differently to normal so it would say 31/10.5/15.
31" high/ 10.5" across/ on a 15" rim.

Once you hit the 31" size your going to have to start trimming stuff of the bumper and remove the mud flaps or they with catch the tyer.
