Hi lads and lassies.

Im looking to get new tyres for my recently purchased t2.

Now if im being honest 75% of my driving will be on road but when offroad with work I need to be able to tow trailors through feels and muddy situations. I would also like to go greenlaning, pay offroad sites.

So what do you reckon? Im gonna keep the alloys I think unless modulars are a cheaper option.

Cheers again

Way to open a can of worms!

:lol

I have recently fitted General Grabber AT's all round on mine. Very well behaved on road, seem to grip well off road. Nice and quiet. Supposed to be a bit more aggressive off road than BF Goodrich, whilst being better behaved on road.

I do mainly road work exept shooting season, and the winter as we live in the middle of nowhere ( ish).

:thumbs

Toyo Open Country AT on my T2. OK on road, except when entering a wet roundabout at speed, as expected.

Very decent for my mud use (mainly on our rough shoot), although of course no match for a proper MT tyre.
Since this weekend I also know: excellent in the snow :)

Bf Goodrich mud terrain km2 or all terrains both epic tyres.

I'm going to put a vote in for Cooper STT muds, I do a lot of road mileage but when I'm offroad, I'm really offroad and they're fantastic tyres.

Patrolman and Banshee have them too :thumb2

Tyre Choices

My Terrano r3mR came with Enduro Runway 265/70 x 16 A/T tyres when we bought it so we stayed with them only needing to buy one replacement at £69.00 back in 2009. We did around 33,000 on them over 5 years and they were still ok when we sold it. Although we did not do off roading it did get us through that bad winter in 2012 I think it was through some pretty good snow.

I find that choosing tyres is a bit like choosing your wife/husband/partner as no matter how good the specification is on paper we also go on looks and consider replacement costs if we want to change. What one person says is a great tyre another person does not rate TBH these days there are a lot of great tyres to choose from and its a personal choice with a tad of emotion ! lol

Haha very true banshee. Okay so ill just choose what I like the look of but what size? Is it cheaper to differentiate from the standard size?

here has anyone/does anyone use Insa tyres? look cheap and good enough?

Looking on the nett they are described as a remould, personally I would buy a brand that I have heard of at the very least and would never consider a remould. I value my life too much for remoulds if that is what they are.

Just to throw something else into the mix . . . . .the standard Bridgestone HT840 Duellers are a superb tyre for both on, and off-road use. On a shoot recently, my (soon to be part-exchanged) truck pulled itself, 5 fairly large blokes, their gear, and dogs up a mile long grassy, muddy track without so much as a slide. :thumb2

You'll find the Insa tyres would make a hell of a racket on the road, and to echo others on here I would personally avoid remoulds for road use.

Okay good to know about insas. I checked over the motor really thoroughly today, nsr brake pipe is needing replaced as are the belts id say for peace of mind so budgets getting tighter on tyres. Ill check out those bridgestones.

You should get them for around £80 a corner. My truck had Pirelli Scorpions when I first got it, and they were great for road use. You might find some poor reviews for the Bridgestones, but unless they guys writing the reviews were all on the Paris-Dakar their talking utter crap. Sure, they have their limits. . . . . .I haven't found them though. And I've had the truck up to her axles in mud, snow, and farmyard crap :thumb2

hi I had bridgestone duellers fitted all round absolutely brilliant forgot to mention mainly on road use :thumbs

had long service from general grabber at2 and cooper atr. both 4+ years service.

fancied cooper stt, but last time i looked werent available in t2 oem size 235/70x16
though maybe in 235/75x15.

have to say looking towards next set to replace the cooper atr, plenty of tread but are
approaching wear indicators.

our use is road, rocky green lanes and towing twin axle caravan off wet fields.
fancy mt but suspect overkill for use.

I have decided on Yokohama Geolander GO12 A/T tyres at £330 for 4 fully fitted can't argue with that!
