I have got some Mitsubishi rims on and the tyres are good m+s all terrain which are not an aggressive tread 265/70/15 my question is how big a tyre could I go on these rims (2 inch body lift done )or would you just stay with these until knackered although they are like new

Irrespective of the make of the rim, the maximum tyre width is dependant on the rim width of the actual rim, then you have to look at the manufacturer of the tyre to check if the approved rim size for that tyre is ok for a rim of that width.

NOT ALL tyre manufacturers with a certain size tyre will be approved with all rim widths.

I went through this exercise when I wanted to fit 235 75r15 to my 6"width alloys, the originals were 215....etc

I found suitable tyres that were suitable for rim width of 6- 7.5 inches

So my 6" was satisfactory:naughty.
AT that time, with that supplier anyway, now if I use another tyre supplier, I will have to check again that my rims are suitable.

I hope this helps, so check your rim width first.:thumbs

Oh and I informed my insurance as well, as it went down as a no cost tyre upgrade.
You never know, any excuse not to pay out.

Best regards, Rustic
