Yes I've decided to call him Tyler, as this one actually belongs to me and the V5 will be back any day now :thumb2

His fate........... Unknown at this time with other current projects but if there's any movement, everything shall be updated in here from now on.

Here's the pics some of you will have already seen in the other thread then I'm going to get started on the faults

Loaded up and on the way home with it after a last check of the straps

Good news and bad news.....

Good news........ the 2 reverse lights work :lol :thumbs

Bad news, the electric windows don't come down :doh

Doesn't seem to be a fuse labelled for the power windows in the fusebox underneath the steering wheel and the Large Green FL25A fuse in the auxiliary fusebox in the engine bay seems OK too :nenau

Anything else I can check?

Here's a pic of Terrance and Tyler together whilst you mull it over

Fancy doing something different with this one, like putting Patrol axels on?

Waxoyl it at the same time you do the 3.0 then, or there'll be nowt left when you come back for it :lol

Aint throwing a penny at it until the 3 litre is done and dusted, free fixes and repairs using current tools and bits is as far as I'll go :thumb2

You've got too much on the go at once mate, I'll take it off your hands for 50 squids :D

Nearly bought a 3.0 with an mot failed chassis, £350 but I think I have been beat to it :(

Damn!!! That would have been a nice little project, you looking for a 3 litre as a daily or just after a 2nd project car.

Anyone got any ideas on the electric windows not showing any sign of life?

Slam the doors a few times and spray some wd in the rubber sliders, or vice-versa :thumbs
I'm not joking either, obviously check fuses first.

Hi,

I have always had good results with Silicone spray from Halfords. When I have got the window down I use baby wipes and a blunt knife to clean the channels then a good spray of Silicone Spray in the channels.
I have also had the rubber seal that runs along the top of the door card stick to the glass before so have run a thin piece of plastic (usually bank card as to lazy to go to the shed) to break the bond. Then once window was down cleaned seal with Silicone spray to get it flexible again.
I have seen one of these seals almost superglued to the glass in a car previously owned by a air conditioning loving heavy smoker. The tar and ash build up was grim.

Have you checked that the switches are actually connected and have not been left unplugged by the previous owner for some reason/by accident.

Good luck.

Nice tips there buddy!!!! I'll have another proper look when I get chance :thumb2

Looking forward to seeing what you do with him.

I have to say I'm well jealous of just how little rust you've found considering the state mine's been in in the same places for the same year. What's the mileage and was it garaged? It seems to be a rust roulette with these things. :)

Thanks mate and welcome, not sure if I've spoken to you yet since you've joined :thumb2

It is very much a rust roulette indeed, I've seen some trucks that look like absolute minters from pics and then got there to find it was just a body connected to a pile of orange dust

It's done 88,000 miles all of which appears to have been done on Diesel, the owner that gave it to me certainly hadn't garaged it as he advised me that it hadn't moved from it's spot on the drive since 2012 but that being said it certainly appears to be a bloody solid little rig

Fair play, I wonder if the 5 years sitting and low mileage has spared it from being continuously wet under there. Whatever the reason it looks great.
