Funny you say black smoke, I've only ever had white smoke but rarely will my old girl smoke, I just chuck in whatever whenever :thumb2

In theory this may burn your pocket though :doh

Yes but i'm running pure diesel not veg:augie

Very interesting, although there are plenty who would disagree

I think it's probably a question of how much you add as the suggested 200:1 ratio is so small I can't see it causing issues eg. I only put 500ml into the 95l tank on the Trol.

Almost everyone who adds it notices positive changes very quickly :nenau

That's not to say adding it at much higher ratios (Alex *cough*) could cause issues though...

I think its good for cheap supermarket fuels, that don't have the same level of additives added as higher end fuels.

Yes, I think I will certainly lower my ratios as before I thought it didn't do much anyway, on the basis of sticking valves ect I will certainly pay more attention.

I think clivvy has the answer in post#47.

2T oil

That's that then, good job I didn't bother getting some... :augie

I am not sure of the website credentials as they do not show who finances them or who the "expert is" but I suspect they are being green and do not want anyone adding burnt oil to the exhuast gases. We all know the definition of an expert. X being the unknown quantity and a spurt is a drip under pressure!LOL

The bit about carbon deposit build up might be true if you add too much and use it constantly.

I just do it every fourth tank full or thereabouts.
To me the practical evidence is clear.
I have always found the engine quieter when I use the treatment - this works virtually immediately.
I have 39 years of practical experience having done well in excess of 500,000 miles in a variety of vehicles. The only time I ever experienced carbon deposits was way back in 1968 when I was a student in Bradford and ran my Cooper S on Nafta fuel - that carboned up my cylinder head in 6 months ! Stopped using Nafta - problem sorted!
On what what basis is the unknown fuel expert working from what is his evidence to support his claims?

well said, plus that article isn't even a UK based webpage, so who knows what the differences are abroad in fuels?
