TV recorder...

Need some help and guidance please.

We currently have a Freeview (Toshiba) TV. Works great, plenty of channels working off an original terrestrial aerial (we live on a ridge).

We would like to be able to record programmes to watch at a later date.

How?

I'm not interested in any subscription services, in the grand scheme of things we don't watch that much TV.

What sort of recorded do I need?

I just sold my old one on eBay, bloody brilliant machine, thought I would get a nice sum for it and it sold for 99p

If I'd have known it would have gone that cheap I'd have held it back and sent it you instead :doh

We have a Panasonic digital recorder, it uses Terrestial tv, not Satellite, we get HD on most channels as well, you can record two channels at a time whilst watching another. Pause TV rewind etc etc. comes in two storage options, we took the higher storage.
It will do series record, ie when ever a programme is on, just press one button on controller. Even the wife can use it lol...
We bought ours from "Richer Sounds" if you take out their extended warrenty, and don't make a claim, you get the full fee back after the warranty period.
Not cheap, around £200- £250+ if I recall. I can't give you the model No. as we are not near the machine today, but if we wanted we could remote control it via internet.

It is connected to the internet, and you can watch the internet channels of what was on last month etc, and also youtube direct.
Better on ethernet than WiFi, so we bought a TP WiFi extender with ethernet connection, and connection is almost instant.

Note we get good reception, as we are on a hill and we have a line of sight of the Sutton Coldfield transmitter lol...

Easy tiger, I've only just got used to not being able to record onto my VHS machine. One leap at a time.

I honestly hadn't realised how much they were, I thought probably £50- £70. When we were able to record onto VHS it only happened a few times a year, so not really sure that spending £140+ is actually worth it.

You don't need to buy an expensive one. You can get cheaper ones that work pretty well, I had a 40 pound refurb one from tesco a few years back still working now.

HD, Record 2 channels at once or record one while you watch another. 320gb hard drive. It's not the most stylish thing in the world with menus but works a charm.

On the high side of your budget but a good little unit! Some users say the remote is a bit laggy.
