please excuse my total ignorance,but where is the turbo on a 2.7 54 plate.i've seen the thread about whistling turbo,i think that is happening with mine,

If you open the bonnet you it's on the N/S of the engine near the back, you'll see a black hose from the intercooler going down to the turbo which is mounted on the exhaust manifold:thumb2

Stefan just reading your other thread about K&N, I'm assuming you don't have an induction kit fitted, as that will let you hear the turbo slurping and waste gate dumping........

As Sweety says, its down the r/h side of the engine as you stand in front - smaller than you'd expect, like a snail about the size of a fist with the short fat black pipe going up into the intercooler....

Yes it's rather small but that means it spins up faster & gains full boost pressure & very little turbo lag (time it takes to get full boost)

which pipes are the ones that tend to split and need replacing?

Noneon a T2 (never heard of on splitting)may change mine to silcone ones in time as they are getting old
