Right I'm still struggling with the maverick running issue. It's a 96 2.7tdi. The problem seems to be in the main range the turbo would be boosting? Possible over boost?

I'd say misfire but worse. It kangaroo's almost like the engine stops for a second. It only happens between 2300 to 3000ish rpm. And it only happens if it's more than half throttle. Hope that makes some sense

Fuel supply. Check the filter and mini filter if it has one. Also check fuel tank breather pipe .
Could even be air in the system.
Intercooler leak possibly. Check hoses for soundness. etc
Any engine codes ?

No engine codes new fuel lines no mini filter. I have noticed a small patch of oil in corners of intercooler.

Assuming it's been properly bled through check that I/C They're known to crack.
Still worth checking fuel filter seal. Bit of clear pipe into filter hsg will allow visual check of air in the system still.

Ive tried it bypassing filter and its still the same. Ill swap cooler tomorrow

Bypassing the filter could still mean there's air being sucked in down line somewhere. Especially as you say the lines were changed. Did the old steel bits get binned so new pipe from pump end on chassis right through to tank ? Basically re check rubber to steel unions for soundness etc
Good luck

Oil in the corners of the intercooler could be a faulty oil catch tank so oil is getting sucked into the intercooler & blocking it up, soaking it in paraffin for an hour will clear the oil out. The turbo come on boost at 1800RPM so don't think your misfire will be the turbo as it's happening further up the rev range & IIRC the 2.7's don't suffer over boost probs like the 3L's

You can get to it just under the power steering pump as far as I remember

So it would apear the problem is worse in the wet. Also get a eml light on and off. Flashed codes and get 53??

MIL indicates something else me thinks. Can you get a proper code ?
