Hello everybody.

What are the options for replace the Terrano 2 turbo?
TD27TI - 125bhp.

Thoughts?

Hi,

I'm no expert. I'm sure they will be a long in a mo. However, thought I'd pass on a possibly relevant experience. Our Subaru diesel was diagnosed with an icky turbo. Options were 1) brand new one, £1200 2) recon one, £600 or 3) send of the old one for recon and wait a week, £400. Did the last and touch wood, so far so good. That was nearly 2 years ago. IIRC, the company doing the recon was Midland Turbos.

Oh yeah, I'm assuming you have a problem rather than trying to create a monster Terrano truck.

Have a look in the vehicle projects section and have a look at Makeitfits thread called "Black Pearl" I'm sure he's modded the internals of his turbo

I will check it, however a standard from another model should be cheaper...

I did a bit of research a while ago, they are a Garrett unit, T25 based, I say based as there are differences in the exhaust inlet and outlet flanges, and sometimes the compressed air outlet, however I think if you look for a Garrett T28 you will probably be able to match something up! :thumb2

Keeping this thread up.

What about VGT (Variable Geometry Turbos) ?

Here in Portugal i hear a lot about some Mercedes, Audi and Iveco turbos that should fit in the TD27.

Any information about that?

Changing the subject.

Possible turbos:
- 2052 from Audi A6 2.5TDI
- 2056vk from Iveco
- 2252v from Cabstar 3.0di

Some Mercedes turbos are also a good fit.

If these turbos are bolt on, I suppose it's just a case of getting one from a vehicle with similar traits to the Terrano?

I like the sound of any of them if I can get some more power :lol

I will do some digging.
Here it's pretty usual to find Terrano with variable geometry turbos, but the lack of information is huge.

Working on it.
