Turbo Dump Valves

I know it might sound a bit boy raceresque and chavvy but has anyone ever fitted a dump valve to a Terrano/Maverick?

I'd just love to hear one out of curiosity lol

Ah fair enough :lol
I'd just bin the exhaust and fit a big old snorkel, then you'll here the turbo from both ends :sly

It is needed on a turbo diesel, as much as a petrol

A dump valve dumps the pressure when u lift off the throttle so stopping the turbo impeller stalling, keeping it spinning for quicker response/spool when u get back on the throttle.

IIRC, it messes up the maf readings on a Terrano tdi sending it in to limp mode

It's not fitted as boost pressure at stock is so low. If you were running 14 psi or over then it would offer some purpose, but I think the draw thru maf set up makes it hard to integrate

A Peterbuilt (US) recovery truck came down the road yesterday (big beast) oooooooo the sound of his exhaust brake, clearly he liked it too as it was used to effect, but I just stood and looked with envy, so if you want good sounds, fit an exhaust brake, tho not as easy as it sounds, Rick

No boost worthy of a dump valve and it confuses the ecu if tdi

Your td might be fine if you fit a decent bleed valve to gain boost and match fueling accordingly

But tbh we need torque and low down grunt and a boost valve isn't really typical of this

( I'd love one if I could make it work )

Dump valve only needed on petrol as they have a throttle and so can suddenly stop air/fuel into intake mani, that's the dv job as you say to keep it spinnin.
Diesel has no throttle . Boost is not a problem either as the wastegate does the job there, it just sets the boost level, and spills over that point. I've run over 15 psi on mine and only put it down again cause I couldnt match the fuel to the boost.
